IO Interactive’s Project 007 is now officially titled 007 First Light. Announced with Amazon MGM Studios on June 4, 2025, the game is a standalone, original James Bond origin story—not an adaptation of a particular film. It follows Bond at 26, as a Royal Navy air crewman recruited into MI6 and drawn into training for its elite 00 section. The current official PlayStation product page lists May 27, 2026 as the PS5 release date.
What is 007 First Light?
007 First Light is a story-driven, third-person action-adventure from IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series. The studio and Amazon MGM Studios announced the title on June 4, 2025, replacing the working name Project 007. The announcement describes it as a standalone, reimagined origin story for a young James Bond. IO Interactive’s announcement
Bond is 26 and serving as a Royal Navy air crewman when he is recruited to MI6. His instincts and combat heroism bring him into the agency’s training program for the 00 section. The premise presents an earlier point in Bond’s life than the familiar established agent, while making a new story rather than retelling one of the films.
Is the game based on a James Bond movie?

How does the gameplay work?
The game combines stealth and action, with players able to approach obstacles through force, cunning, or charm. Official descriptions also highlight gadgets, driving, guile, and player choice. Is 007 First Light multiplayer?
PlayStation lists the game as single-player. Its product FAQ says that no information on multiplayer modes has been announced; that is not confirmation of a multiplayer feature. PlayStation’s official product page

The current official PlayStation product page lists May 27, 2026 for PS5, and IO Interactive’s 2026 technical post also cites May 27. An earlier PlayStation Blog headline gave March 27, 2026; that date has been superseded by the later official listings. Which platforms are announced?
IO Interactive’s June 2025 announcement names PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. PlayStation’s product page lists PS5 and PS5 Pro, not PS4.
