Infinity Legacy II 4.6 is the current release for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 on NeoForge. Install that exact profile in your launcher, reserve about 10–12 GB of RAM for the client, and use the matching InfinityLegacyIIServer-v4.6.zip with Java 21 for a dedicated server. Every player and the server must use the same pack release, Minecraft version, and NeoForge loader.

What Infinity Legacy II is

Infinity Legacy II is an expert-oriented Minecraft progression modpack built around automation, custom multiblocks, custom EMC systems, extreme recipes, and questlines. The quests provide an ordered path through a pack that otherwise expects players to discover complex production chains and infrastructure for themselves. Beginners can use the guides and quests to learn the systems, but the recipes and resource requirements are designed for long-term progression rather than a quick trip to the credits.

The project author describes the design as “a modpack focused on progression and grinding, with a lot of automation and custom recipes.” That description is useful when deciding whether the pack fits your group: expect to build production lines, repeat resource-processing tasks, and expand machinery over time instead of following a short collection of lightly modified vanilla objectives.

CurseForge’s files page snapshot current to October 14, 2026, records 106,129 downloads. That figure is a project download count, not a measure of active players, server capacity, or performance.

Current release and compatibility

Choose release 4.6 unless you are deliberately joining a server that is pinned to an older build. Older Minecraft 1.21.1 files remain visible in the project’s file list, so selecting the newest result by habit is not enough: check the pack version shown in the launcher and on the server.

Component Current value What to verify
Infinity Legacy II pack 4.6 Use this release for a new installation.
Minecraft 1.21.1, Java Edition The client profile and server must both target 1.21.1.
Mod loader NeoForge Do not substitute Forge or Fabric.
Official dedicated-server file InfinityLegacyIIServer-v4.6.zip Download the server artifact that matches the client release.
Pack upload date October 13, 2026 Date shown for the current pack release.

A version mismatch can prevent a connection before the world loads, and mixing releases can also change recipes, quests, or world data. Record the exact release number when you create a single-player world or a server so that every later installation can be checked against it.

What you need before installing

Client prerequisites

  • A legal Minecraft Java Edition account and the PC version of the game.
  • A supported launcher, such as CurseForge’s Minecraft launcher integration or another launcher that can install CurseForge modpacks.
  • A profile configured for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge.
  • Enough physical memory to reserve approximately 10–12 GB for the pack. This is the project’s client guidance, not a promise of a fixed frame rate or an absolute requirement for every computer.

Close browsers, game launchers, video editors, and other memory-heavy programs if your computer is close to the 10–12 GB allocation. Java can only use memory that the operating system can provide; assigning more in the launcher does not create additional physical RAM.

Dedicated-server prerequisites

  • The official InfinityLegacyIIServer-v4.6.zip file.
  • Java 21 installed on the server machine or hosting plan.
  • A new, writable server directory with space for the extracted files and the generated world.
  • Permission to run the included NeoForge setup and start script.
  • Firewall or router access if players will connect from outside the local network.

The project does not publish a universal server-memory number for every player count. Treat the client’s 10–12 GB guidance as a signal that this is a large pack, then size the server conservatively within the host’s actual RAM and leave enough memory for the operating system and Java overhead.

Install Infinity Legacy II with CurseForge

CurseForge’s profile workflow is the most direct route when you want the launcher to obtain the pack files and create a ready-to-start instance.

  1. Install Minecraft Java Edition for PC and sign in through a supported launcher.
  2. Open the launcher’s Minecraft section and choose Create Custom Profile or the equivalent profile-creation command.
  3. Set the Minecraft version to 1.21.1 and the mod loader to NeoForge. Do not leave the loader on an automatically selected alternative.
  4. Search the modpack catalog for Infinity Legacy II, open the project published by WesleyJBA, and select release 4.6.
  5. Start the installation and allow the launcher to download the pack’s mods, configuration files, and dependencies. Keep the launcher open until it reports completion rather than starting a partially downloaded profile.
  6. Open the profile settings and assign about 10–12 GB of RAM. Use a lower value only if the project’s current guidance and your own stability testing support it; never assign more than the machine can physically spare.
  7. Launch the instance once. Wait at the title screen long enough to confirm that NeoForge finishes loading without an error, then create a new world or import an existing compatible one.

The first start can take longer than subsequent launches while Java builds caches and the pack initializes. A successful title screen confirms that the client instance loaded; it does not confirm that a particular multiplayer server is compatible. Check the server’s release and loader separately before attempting to join.

Install through GDLauncher

GDLauncher exposes the project through its CurseForge integration. Its quick-install identifier is #infinity-legacy-2. The identifier only finds the project; it does not remove the need to choose the supported game and loader versions.

  1. Open GDLauncher’s instance browser and use the CurseForge catalog or the quick-install identifier #infinity-legacy-2.
  2. Select Infinity Legacy II and verify that the selected file is release 4.6.
  3. Confirm that the instance uses Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge before downloading.
  4. Set the instance memory near the project’s 10–12 GB client guidance, subject to the physical limits of your computer.
  5. Launch once and check that the title screen appears without a mod-loading failure.

If GDLauncher offers several historical files, do not choose an older file simply because it appears first in a search result. Match the version used by the server you intend to join.

First launch checks

Use the first successful launch to establish a known-good baseline before adding personal settings or importing a world.

  • Confirm the title screen identifies the expected Minecraft and NeoForge environment.
  • Open the installed-instance details and record the Infinity Legacy II release number.
  • Create a temporary test world and load into it. This checks that world creation, registries, and the initial mod set complete together.
  • Quit normally so the launcher and game can finish writing configuration files.
  • Only then copy in a save, shader configuration, or other personal customization.

Keep a copy of the working profile’s configuration directory. If a later change causes a crash, you can compare the altered profile with the known-good installation instead of troubleshooting several changes at once.

RAM allocation: how much is enough?

The project page advises allocating 10–12 GB to the client. That range is the practical starting point for Infinity Legacy II, whose automation systems, custom recipes, and large mod set can create a heavier load than a vanilla world. It is not an independent benchmark, a guarantee that every computer will maintain a particular frame rate, or a reason to allocate nearly all of a computer’s memory to Java.

Use case Guidance Important qualification
Client play Plan for approximately 10–12 GB. Figure comes from the project’s client guidance; leave memory for the operating system and other applications.
Dedicated server Size conservatively according to the number of players, world activity, and available host RAM. No single official server allocation covers every player count.
Host with less physical RAM Reduce background applications and use the highest stable allocation that remains within physical limits. Over-allocation can cause operating-system swapping or termination instead of improving performance.

Symptoms of a memory problem

  • The launcher or server exits during mod loading rather than reaching a title screen or console-ready state.
  • The game becomes unstable when several players explore new terrain or when many machines process items simultaneously.
  • The operating system reports heavy swapping, or the server process is killed by a host’s memory limit.

First close unnecessary applications and confirm the Java and launcher memory flags. Increase the allocation only when the machine has unused physical RAM. More memory cannot correct a loader mismatch, a damaged download, or a broken configuration.

Set up a dedicated Infinity Legacy II server

1. Obtain the matching server package

Download InfinityLegacyIIServer-v4.6.zip from the official project files and place it in a new server directory. Do not build a server by copying only the client’s mods folder: the official server artifact is intended to provide the server-side files and setup layout for this release.

2. Extract and inspect the files

Extract the ZIP into the server directory. Review the included start script, configuration files, and any README supplied with the package. Keep the directory dedicated to this instance so that another modpack’s libraries or configuration files cannot be mixed into the installation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. Install and verify Java 21

Install a 64-bit Java 21 runtime on the machine that will run the server. Open a terminal in the server directory and verify the runtime with:

java -version

The output should identify Java 21. If the command reports another major version, correct the system PATH or edit the start script to point to the Java 21 executable before continuing. A server that starts with the wrong Java version can stop during NeoForge’s loading phase even when the ZIP is intact.

4. Run the NeoForge setup and accept the EULA

Run the setup command or script included with the server package. Start the server once so that it generates its initial files. When the process stops and creates eula.txt, open that file, read the Minecraft EULA, and change the acceptance line to:

eula=true

Save the file and start the server again. The server will not legally continue without that explicit acceptance. Do not delete the generated files between starts unless you are intentionally rebuilding the installation.

5. Set memory in the start script

Open the supplied start script and inspect its Java memory flags. Set the initial and maximum heap values to amounts your machine can sustain, keeping the project’s 10–12 GB client guidance in mind while allowing headroom for the operating system and other services. A server should be sized for its real player count and world activity, not copied blindly from a client setting.

If the server exits before loading mods, check the Java version, the script’s path to Java, and whether the maximum heap exceeds the host’s physical or plan limit. If it starts but becomes unstable during exploration, reduce simultaneous world-generation activity before assigning more memory.

6. Configure network access

The default Minecraft server port is TCP 25565. Permit that port through the machine’s firewall and, for players outside the local network, forward it from the router to the server’s local address. A host may provide a control-panel firewall as well as the operating-system firewall; both layers must allow the connection.

Players on the same local network can usually connect using the server machine’s local address. Remote players need the public address or hostname supplied by the network or hosting provider. Do not publish an address that exposes unrelated services on the same machine.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

7. Complete a local test

  1. Start the server and wait until the console reports that it is ready for connections.
  2. Connect from a client installation that uses Infinity Legacy II 4.6, Minecraft 1.21.1, and NeoForge.
  3. Create or load a test world and confirm that blocks, recipes, quests, and machines initialize normally.
  4. Stop the server with its normal console command so that world data and logs are saved cleanly.

Only after this local test should you invite remote players or restore a valuable world backup.

Make multiplayer clients match the server

Every player should install the exact same Infinity Legacy II release, Minecraft version, and NeoForge loader used by the server. “Minecraft 1.21.1” by itself is not sufficient: release 4.6 and an older 1.21.1 pack can contain different mods, recipes, registries, or configuration files.

Best Value
Minecraft - Bedrock Edition PS4
  • Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
  • discover community creations in the new in-game store
  • access new mini games and game modes through servers
  • Send players the pack release number, not just a launcher search term.
  • Ask each player to launch the instance once before connecting so missing downloads and local setup errors are discovered early.
  • When a player reports an immediate disconnect, compare the client’s instance details with the server’s pack filename and startup log.
  • Do not let one player update independently while the server remains pinned; schedule the change for everyone together.

Backups and pack updates

Back up the complete world directory before changing the pack release, NeoForge version, server configuration, or major Java settings. Expert packs can change recipes, quests, registries, and world data between releases, so a world that opens after an update may still have altered progression or missing content.

A practical backup routine

  1. Stop the server normally and wait for the process to close.
  2. Copy the world folder to storage separate from the live server directory.
  3. Record the previous pack release, loader version, Java version, and date in the backup name.
  4. Install the new release in a separate directory or preserve a complete copy of the old server.
  5. Test the updated server with a copy of the world before making it the public instance.

For a multiplayer world, keep at least one untouched backup from before the update. If the new release changes a recipe or quest unexpectedly, you can roll back without overwriting the only copy of player progress.

Troubleshooting Infinity Legacy II

The client cannot join the server

Check version pairing first. Confirm that both sides use Infinity Legacy II 4.6, Minecraft 1.21.1, and NeoForge. If those values differ, reinstall or switch the client profile before changing network settings. Once the versions match, verify the server address, TCP port 25565, firewall rules, and router forwarding.

The server exits while loading mods

  • Verify that the process is running Java 21 by checking java -version in the same environment used by the start script.
  • Confirm that the complete contents of InfinityLegacyIIServer-v4.6.zip were extracted.
  • Inspect the start script for an invalid Java path or memory maximum that exceeds the machine’s available RAM.
  • Read the first error in the server log rather than treating later cascade errors as separate failures.

Replacing files at random can make diagnosis harder. Restore a clean extraction of the official server ZIP, apply only the required Java and memory settings, and test again.

The pack launches but becomes unstable under load

Large bursts of new terrain generation and many simultaneous automation machines can increase load. Reduce the number of players exploring unfamiliar areas at once, avoid starting several major world-generation tasks simultaneously, and observe whether stability returns. Increase available memory only within the physical limits of the machine; the project’s 10–12 GB figure is a requirement signal, not a performance guarantee.

A world behaves differently after an update

Stop using the updated world as the only copy. Restore the pre-update backup in a separate test directory, compare the old and new release notes or configuration files supplied with the pack, and test the progression systems that matter to your group. If recipes, quests, or world data no longer match expectations, keep the server on the earlier release until you have a verified migration plan.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The server is unreachable from outside the home network

  • Confirm that the server is listening on TCP 25565 and that the local firewall allows it.
  • Check router port forwarding points to the server’s current local IP address.
  • Verify that the host or internet service does not block inbound connections.
  • Test from a genuinely external connection, such as a mobile hotspot, rather than relying only on a local-network test.

Choosing managed hosting for this pack

If you do not want to administer Java, firewall rules, backups, and file transfers yourself, evaluate a managed host against the pack’s actual requirements rather than choosing a plan by player-count marketing alone.

Capability Questions to ask before paying
NeoForge support Does the provider support Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge, not only vanilla, Forge, or Fabric?
Official server package Can you upload or one-click install InfinityLegacyIIServer-v4.6.zip?
Guaranteed resources What RAM and CPU resources are guaranteed, and are limits enforced per account or shared across nodes?
Backups Are automated backups included, how often do they run, and can you download a copy before an update?
Location and latency Is there a data-center region near the players, and can you move the instance later?
File access Can you edit start flags, upload configs, download logs, and restore a world without opening a support ticket?
Update control Can you pin release 4.6 and update manually instead of being forced onto a newer file?
Price terms Is the displayed price recurring, and are storage, backups, additional RAM, or transfers charged separately?

A host’s claim that it supports the pack is not enough. Ask it to confirm the exact 4.6 release, NeoForge 1.21.1, the official server ZIP, available memory, and a restore method before moving an existing world.

A clean installation checklist

  • Client and server are both on Infinity Legacy II 4.6.
  • Both sides use Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1.
  • Both sides use NeoForge.
  • The client has approximately 10–12 GB allocated, subject to physical RAM limits.
  • The dedicated server uses the official InfinityLegacyIIServer-v4.6.zip package.
  • Java 21 is the runtime used by the server process.
  • The EULA is accepted in eula.txt.
  • The server start script has memory values appropriate for the machine.
  • TCP port 25565 is allowed through the relevant firewall and router when remote access is required.
  • A tested world backup exists before any pack or loader update.

Bottom line for new players and server owners

Start with Infinity Legacy II 4.6 on Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. Give the client roughly 10–12 GB of RAM, install through a profile-based launcher, and verify a clean first launch. For multiplayer, use InfinityLegacyIIServer-v4.6.zip, Java 21, conservative server memory settings, and TCP 25565 when remote access is needed. The most reliable troubleshooting order is version and loader matching, Java verification, complete server-package extraction, memory flags, and only then network configuration. Back up the world before changing releases, because progression data can change along with the pack.
