NVIDIA GeForce 531.68 (April 18, 2023) and AMD Software: Adrenalin 23.4.3 (April 27, 2023) were launch-era releases. They explain older headlines about this game, but they are not the default drivers to install in 2026.
Which driver should you install?

Download only from NVIDIA, AMD, Intel or your computer maker. Third-party “driver updater” sites are unnecessary and can supply the wrong package.
Identify the GPU Windows is actually using
- Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters and record the exact model, including a suffix such as “RTX 3060 Laptop GPU.”
- For a second check, press Windows key + R, enter
dxdiag, and inspect the Display tab. - Alternatively, open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc, select Performance, and choose each GPU entry.
Laptops commonly show both an integrated and a discrete GPU. Windows or the vendor control panel can assign the game to the integrated adapter, so confirm the intended GPU after updating.

NVIDIA: install the current Game Ready Driver
- Open NVIDIA’s official driver page.
- Select the exact product family, GPU, Windows version and driver type.
- Download the current Game Ready Driver.
- Run the installer. Choose Custom installation if you want the Perform a clean installation option exposed.
- Restart Windows when prompted, then update the game through your launcher.
Game Ready is the sensible default when gaming is the priority. Studio drivers are also capable of running games, but their validation and release focus favor creative applications; NVIDIA does not describe them as unusable for gaming. The Game Ready explanation describes that distinction without promising a universal frame-rate advantage.
Why older NVIDIA articles mention 531.68
GeForce Game Ready Driver 531.68 WHQL was released on April 18, 2023 for Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11 and identified Jedi: Survivor as a new-release title. It is useful historical context, or a possible rollback target for a documented regression, not a permanent requirement. NVIDIA’s archived listing directs users toward newer drivers.

AMD: install the current Adrenalin package
- Open AMD’s official driver page.
- Choose the Radeon product family and exact desktop or laptop GPU.
- Download the current AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition package.
- Install with the default gaming profile unless you have a specific reason to customize it.
- Restart Windows and allow the game’s shader compilation or file optimization to finish on its next launch.
Use AMD’s cleanup utility or a Safe Mode cleanup only as recovery steps for a corrupted installation, repeated driver crashes or a switch between GPU vendors. Routine updates do not require cleanup, and unnecessary removal adds inconvenience and risk.
What AMD 23.4.3 means
AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.4.3, released April 27, 2023, added explicit Jedi: Survivor support. Its notes also recorded possible stutter or performance drops with certain extended-display setups on some Radeon RX 7000 configurations, plus brief corruption during application switching. That is launch history, not evidence that current AMD packages retain those issues.

Intel and OEM laptop guidance
Intel Arc and integrated-graphics owners should select the exact model and Windows version in the Intel Download Center. Do not substitute an NVIDIA or AMD package, or assume that “Game Ready” is a universal vendor label.
For a laptop, check the manufacturer’s support page first when it controls GPU switching, display muxing, thermal modes or power management. NVIDIA specifically tells notebook users to check the OEM for recommended software updates in its archived driver guidance. A generic vendor driver is reasonable only when the OEM permits it and display brightness, sleep, external monitors and switching continue to work.

Check the game’s hardware requirements
EA’s published specifications list the following baseline. They describe compatibility targets, not a guarantee of 60 frames per second or freedom from traversal stutter.

See EA’s official requirements, FAQ and revised requirements page. A card below the GTX 1070/RX 580 class is outside the listed minimum. A card with similar compute power but less than 8 GB VRAM can still suffer texture-streaming problems, severe setting compromises, stutter or crashes; VRAM capacity alone does not establish equivalent performance.

Update the game before troubleshooting
Install every available patch through Steam, the EA app or Epic Games Store. The Steam listing states that non-optional patching requires internet access: Steam’s game page. A current driver paired with an old game build is not a reliable test baseline.
After the driver and game update
- Restart Windows.
- Confirm Windows and the vendor control panel assign the game to the intended discrete GPU.
- Launch the game and let shader compilation or “Optimizing Game Files” complete.
- Test the same save and location before changing several settings at once.
- If crashes or hitching continue, temporarily disable NVIDIA, AMD, Steam, Discord and recording overlays.
- Turn ray tracing off and test again.
- Verify or repair the installation through the relevant launcher.
- If the problem began immediately after the driver update and is repeatable, reinstall or roll back to the previous known-good official package.
- When reporting a problem, include the GPU model, driver version, Windows version, game patch, resolution, graphics settings and ray-tracing state.
EA’s patch notes document work on frame-rate hitching, GPU and CPU optimization, ray-tracing performance, crashes and the “Optimizing Game Files” screen. Those changes show why a driver cannot be treated as the sole fix.
Why stutter can remain on a current driver
- CPU-limited traversal or asset streaming can persist after a driver update.
- Shader compilation can cause temporary hitching on an initial run.
- Ray tracing increases GPU and CPU workload.
- Overlays, background recording and monitoring tools add contention.
- A slow or nearly full drive can delay asset streaming; the recommended specification calls for an SSD.
- Laptop power or thermal limits can reduce clocks.
- The game may still be running on the integrated adapter.
- Insufficient VRAM or a game-side engine bug can remain.
Do not interpret “driver support” as a promised frame rate. It means compatibility or optimization work, not a guarantee that every traversal hitch disappears.
When the latest driver is not the right one
The default is the latest compatible official package, but a rollback is justified when a new release causes a clear, repeatable regression. It can also be necessary when an OEM laptop explicitly requires an older branch. Remove third-party overclocks or undervolts during diagnosis, reinstall with the vendor’s clean or factory-reset option only when appropriate, and keep a record of the previously working version.
