It combines a 2560×1440 (QHD/1440p) Fast IPS panel with a reported maximum of 260Hz, but that top mode requires DisplayPort and monitor-side overclocking. The listing reported a price of 2,194 yuan (about $309 at the time); it is not a confirmed U.S. launch or current U.S. retail price as of August 18, 2026.
Gizmochina’s August 2024 report is the source for the launch, price and specifications below. ViewSonic’s current U.S. announcements instead highlight newer models such as the VX2738-2K-OLED, VX2730D-4K and XG275D-4K.
VX2766-2K-Pro-3 specifications

“2K” is consumer-monitor shorthand here. The actual 2560×1440 resolution is QHD/1440p, not the cinema DCI-2K format. At 27 inches, it offers a useful compromise between desktop sharpness and the graphics horsepower needed for high frame rates.

How the 260Hz mode works
DisplayPort is required
The reported 260Hz maximum is available through DisplayPort 1.4, not HDMI. HDMI is specified at up to 144Hz. Connect the graphics card to DisplayPort, select the DisplayPort input, set the desktop and game to 2560×1440, and use a suitable cable.
Overclocking must be enabled
The monitor’s on-screen display reportedly requires its overclocking option to be enabled before 260Hz appears. That makes 260Hz an overclocked maximum rather than the necessarily default out-of-box setting. If the option is missing, check the input, resolution, DisplayPort connection and OSD overclock setting first.

260Hz is useful only with sustained frame rates
A 260Hz panel refreshes every 3.85 milliseconds, but the advantage over 144Hz or 240Hz depends on the PC producing similarly high, consistently paced frame rates. Competitive shooters can benefit most. In slower single-player games, a system that fluctuates below 144 frames per second will not make full use of the headline mode.
- GPU output, game settings and operating-system refresh settings must all support 2560×1440 at the selected rate.
- If the display falls back to 144Hz, HDMI use is the first thing to check.
- Adaptive sync can help when frame rate varies, but the report does not state its operating range.
Image quality and feature trade-offs
Fast IPS panel
Fast IPS generally offers wider viewing angles and more consistent color across the screen than a traditional TN panel. The reported 1ms figure should be treated as a manufacturer claim: no test method or overdrive behavior is provided, so it does not establish real-world pixel response or input latency.

Color, brightness and HDR
The listing claims 100% sRGB, 96% DCI-P3, 400-nit typical brightness and 450-nit peak brightness, plus 10-bit output through 8-bit + FRC rather than native 10-bit pixels. These figures may be useful expectations, but they are not independent measurements.
HDR400 is an entry-level HDR capability. Without evidence of OLED-level black control or full-array local dimming, it should not be read as a promise of premium HDR highlights or deep blacks. The 80,000,000:1 dynamic-contrast number has little buying value compared with measured native contrast.

Gaming controls
Reported features include FreeSync, G-Sync Compatible operation, low-blue-light and flicker-free modes, a gaming crosshair and multiple color presets. “G-Sync Compatible” means variable-refresh support validated for compatible NVIDIA setups; it does not mean the monitor contains a dedicated G-Sync module. Enabling adaptive sync in the monitor OSD and the graphics-driver control panel may be necessary.

Importing a regional model can involve Chinese-language firmware or menus, a different power plug, uncertain voltage accessories, China-only warranty service, difficult return shipping and changing marketplace inventory. Confirm the seller’s warranty and return terms before paying; do not assume ViewSonic’s U.S. support applies.
Who should consider it?
Good fit
- Competitive PC players whose hardware can sustain well above 144fps at 1440p.
- People moving up from 60Hz, 75Hz or 144Hz who want IPS viewing angles.
- Mixed gaming and desktop users who prefer LCD’s lack of normal OLED burn-in concerns.
Look elsewhere if
- You play exclusively on a console, which will not expose a 1440p/260Hz mode.
- Your graphics card rarely exceeds 144fps at 1440p.
- HDR contrast is your priority.
- You need USB-C charging, a USB hub, KVM features or a straightforward U.S. warranty.
Current ViewSonic alternatives
ViewSonic’s documented U.S. models address different priorities and have a clearer official support path.
| Model | What it offers | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| VX2738-2K-OLED | 27-inch 1440p QD-OLED, 240Hz, 0.03ms GTG, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort, FreeSync Premium, G-Sync Compatible and burn-in-prevention features. ViewSonic cited an estimated $449.99 street price in a March 2026 release. | Buyers prioritizing contrast, HDR impact and OLED response. |
| VX2730D-4K | Switchable 4K/144Hz and 1080p/288Hz modes, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort, 0.5ms MPRT and a 24.5-inch esports view mode. ViewSonic listed an estimated $279.99 price in March 2026, subject to change. | Users wanting high-resolution play and a lower-resolution competitive mode. |
| XG275D-4K | Switchable 4K/160Hz and 1080p/320Hz modes, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort, USB-C with 65W power delivery and adaptive sync. | High-end PC or multi-device setups needing 4K and esports refresh options. |
ViewSonic’s announcements and regional product pages are collected at its U.S. press-release page; later monitor coverage for the XG275D-4K appears at ViewSonic’s monitor blog.
Verdict
The VX2766-2K-Pro-3 is an interesting China-market 1440p Fast IPS design, especially for a competitive PC player who can drive very high frame rates. Its 260Hz headline needs DisplayPort and OSD overclocking, while HDMI stops at 144Hz. More importantly for buyers outside China, the product remains a 2024 regional listing with no verified current U.S. purchase or support route. Treat the specifications and price as reported claims, and compare the import risk with ViewSonic’s officially documented 240Hz OLED and switchable 4K models before buying.
