If IRL Pro stays on “starting,” first check whether YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room shows an incoming signal. If it does not, check IRL Pro’s YouTube destination, refresh the stream key, inspect the app’s output, and test the connection. If YouTube does receive a signal, investigate the broadcast status and account setup there. The “starting” label alone does not identify the cause.
1. Check whether YouTube is receiving IRL Pro
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room for the broadcast you intend to start.
- Try starting the stream in IRL Pro, then check whether Live Control Room reports an incoming encoder signal.
If there is no incoming signal, focus on the path from IRL Pro to YouTube: destination details, stream key, encoder state, and network. If YouTube does show an incoming signal, the encoder has reached YouTube; use the status and any messages in Live Control Room to check the broadcast and account setup. This is a practical way to divide the problem, not a documented definition of IRL Pro’s “starting” label. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance covers encoder and connection checks.
2. Refresh the YouTube stream key
YouTube’s advice for an error starting a third-party encoder is: “To fix it, get a new stream key in the Live Control Room and update your encoder.” Get the fresh key in Live Control Room, then replace the existing key in IRL Pro if you set up the destination using a key.
- Confirm you are working with the intended broadcast in Live Control Room.
- Copy its current stream key and update the key in IRL Pro’s YouTube destination settings.
- Try starting again and check Live Control Room for an incoming signal.
Keep the key private. Do not include it in a public screenshot, issue, or support post.

3. Verify IRL Pro’s destination and encoder output
IRL Pro’s setup material describes configuring a destination URL and key. Check that the selected destination and the URL/key or account connection match the setup method you chose and the intended YouTube stream. IRL Pro’s broadcasting documentation provides setup context.
- Install the latest IRL Pro release available through the app’s distribution channel.
- While starting, check the app’s preview, connection status, and any encoder or connection error it displays.
- Use YouTube’s encoder checks as a second signal: inspect picture and sound at the encoder, encoder errors, and CPU load. YouTube advises trying another encoder if the output is unhealthy; if it looks healthy locally, the outbound internet connection may be the problem. See YouTube’s troubleshooting steps.
The available documentation does not establish a current IRL Pro version number, a current integration flow, or a specific IRL Pro bug behind this status. Its “starting” label should not be treated as a diagnosis.

4. Test the outbound connection
If IRL Pro’s output appears healthy but Live Control Room receives no signal or reports a connection problem, retry on a stable internet connection and test outbound connectivity. YouTube recommends contacting your internet provider if the connection test finds a problem. IRL Pro’s setup documentation describes broadcasting over a single connection, so comparing mobile data with Wi-Fi can help isolate a network-specific issue; that comparison is a troubleshooting inference, not a required YouTube step.
There is no documented bitrate or minimum-speed threshold established as a fix for this particular startup symptom. Avoid changing settings at random before checking whether YouTube receives a signal.

5. Check whether YouTube live streaming is enabled
If this is the account’s first YouTube live stream, confirm live streaming is enabled. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours. That timing applies to first-time enablement; it is not a general timeout for an established account whose stream is stuck starting. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the setup process.
6. Narrow down the failing segment
Use these observations together instead of repeatedly tapping Start or buying equipment before locating the problem:

- The key was already configured: Replace it with a fresh key from the intended broadcast in Live Control Room, then retry.
- This is the account’s first live stream: Check enablement and allow for YouTube’s stated first-time setup period of up to 24 hours.
When asking for help, provide the IRL Pro version, exact error text, selected destination mode, and whether Live Control Room shows an incoming signal. Never share the stream key.
