No official Dark Souls 3 remaster has been confirmed in the sources reviewed. The story comes from an insider’s reported claim, not an announcement by FromSoftware or Bandai Namco. It does not establish a release date, platforms, development team, or features.
Where the Dark Souls 3 remaster rumor came from
On November 18, 2024, Insider Gaming reported that Nick Baker, known as Shpeshal Nick, said on an XboxEra podcast: “What I have heard is that we are getting a Dark Souls 3 remaster.” That wording is Baker describing what he had heard; it is not confirmation from the game’s developer or publisher. Insider Gaming’s report is the source of the claim.

Other coverage published that day also described the project as uncertain. One report noted that Baker had no concrete release details and questioned whether the project exists at all. Video Games Chronicle and PlayStation LifeStyle likewise reported that platforms and the studio responsible were unknown.
What is—and is not—known about a remaster
The reported claim does not verify that development is underway. It also gives no confirmed launch window, platform list, named development team, or feature set. Suggestions elsewhere that a remaster might target PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, or offer 60fps and near-4K image quality, are speculation rather than announced specifications.

No official remaster announcement appears in the official historical releases cited here. Those releases establish facts about the original game and its sales, not its current remaster status; that distinction matters because the rumor was reported in 2024 and announcements can change.
What is confirmed about the original Dark Souls 3
FromSoftware announced DARK SOULS III jointly with Bandai Namco on June 16, 2015, describing it as an action role-playing game. The announcement listed PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. FromSoftware’s announcement gives the original platform information.

The game debuted in Japan in March 2016 and in other regions in April 2016. In 2020, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware reported more than 10 million DARK SOULS III units across the base game and The Fire Fades Edition. That tally includes downloadable versions and Steam downloads, so it is not a physical-copy figure. The same release reported more than 27 million DARK SOULS series units at that time—a historical total, not a current lifetime count. The joint sales announcement provides those figures.

DARK SOULS III: The Fire Fades Edition is an existing all-in-one edition that includes all DLC, according to the official release. It is not a remaster. Check the specific retailer or platform-store listing for its platform, region, availability, format, and included content; the edition name alone does not establish what a particular listing currently offers.
