The latest official Mafia newsroom item located is dated August 14, 2026, and concerns The Old Country expansion and a franchise collection—not a new standalone game. That does not rule out news after that date; it means an imminent reveal is not established by the available official announcements.
What has been announced officially?
2K and Hangar 13 revealed Mafia: The Old Country on August 20, 2024, describing it as a return to the origins of organized crime in the series. The game is set in 1900s Sicily and follows a new cast of characters. 2K announced worldwide availability on August 8, 2025. It is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. 2K’s Mafia newsroom lists later updates and announcements for this game, its expansion, and a collection, but the latest item shown there is dated August 14, 2026.
The Old Country is a released game, not an upcoming reveal
Hangar 13 president Nick Baynes described it in 2K’s May 8, 2025 launch-date announcement as “a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay.” The publisher’s reveal announcement reported more than 34 million copies sold-in across the franchise as of 2024; its May 2025 announcement later reported more than 38 million sold-in across consoles and PC. These are 2K-reported figures from different dates, not independently audited current sales totals. 2K’s availability announcement confirms the release platforms and date; the earlier figures and reveal details appear in the reveal announcement and the May 2025 launch-date announcement.
Does the 2026 news point to another Mafia game?
No. On August 14, 2026, 2K announced the Man of Honor expansion for The Old Country and Mafia: The Omertà Collection, a bundle of four franchise games. The announcement described those products as available on that date; it did not announce a separate new game or give a reveal window. The announcement’s $49.99 introductory offer had platform-specific end dates in August 2026, so it is not a current price. Check local storefronts for current availability and pricing. 2K’s August 2026 announcement has the details.

Where did the “announced soon” rumor come from?
The phrasing echoes older speculation, not evidence of a new current reveal. GamingBolt archived a 2024 rumor that Take-Two was gearing up to announce the next mainline Mafia title; the official The Old Country reveal followed in August 2024. A 2020 PlayStation Universe report treated activity on the franchise’s social account as a possible hint. Neither report establishes an upcoming announcement now. GamingBolt’s 2024 report and PlayStation Universe’s 2020 report are historical context only.
How to check a claim about a new game
- Look for a dated announcement from 2K or Hangar 13, rather than treating a rumor, social post, or retailer listing as confirmation.
- Check what the announcement actually names: an expansion or collection is not the same as a new standalone game.
- Until an official announcement confirms otherwise, treat claims about a new game or reveal date as unconfirmed.
Can you play Mafia: The Old Country now?
Yes. 2K lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam as platforms. Its support FAQ says physical and digital purchase paths are available through the official game page; check that page or your local retailer for regional stock, editions, and current prices. 2K’s support FAQ covers editions and purchase options.
