Ubisoft has confirmed that a remake of the original Splinter Cell is in development, but it has not confirmed a 2027 release. The Ubisoft game delayed into fiscal year 2027 was not identified as the remake, and the latest reported development update gave no launch window.
What is the new Splinter Cell project?
It is a remake of the first Splinter Cell, not a confirmed sequel. Ubisoft announced on December 15, 2021 that it had greenlit the project, with Ubisoft Toronto leading development. The studio said it would rebuild the game from the ground up using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. Ubisoft described development as being in its earliest stages and said the remake would remain linear rather than become open world. Ubisoft’s announcement quoted creative director Chris Auty: “With this remake, we are building a solid base for the future of Splinter Cell.” That statement describes an ambition, not confirmation of a sequel or release date.
Does Ubisoft’s FY2027 delay mean the remake is coming in 2027?
No. In a January 21, 2026 portfolio announcement, Ubisoft said an unnamed game originally planned for FY2026 had been delayed to FY2027 and that seven titles received additional development time. The company did not name Splinter Cell as the delayed game. The announcement uses Ubisoft’s fiscal-year labels; FY2027 is not, by itself, a confirmed calendar-year launch date for this remake. Connecting that unnamed title to Splinter Cell would be speculation.
Is the remake still in development?
GamesRadar reported on February 19, 2026 that Ubisoft confirmed the remake remained in development after layoffs at Ubisoft Toronto. The report is an update on project status, not a launch announcement: it supplied no release date or window.

Has Ubisoft announced a 2027 release date?
No 2027 date or window is established by the announcements and reporting cited here. Ubisoft’s press-center page, accessed October 8, 2026, displayed September 30, 2026 as its latest press release and did not show a Splinter Cell release date among the recent items. That is a limited check of that page, not proof that no announcement exists elsewhere. Until Ubisoft names the game and publishes a date or window, a 2027 launch remains unconfirmed.
