No official announcement confirms AMD FSR 4.1 for Xbox Series X|S. The Xbox-specific developer documentation reviewed lists FSR 1 and FSR 2, while Xbox’s statement about using FSR Next refers to Project Helix, its next-generation console project—not current Series consoles. As of October 9, 2026, claims that FSR 4.1 is coming soon to Series X|S remain unconfirmed.

What AMD and Microsoft document for Xbox Series X|S

AMD’s Xbox developer page says Xbox developers can access FSR 1 and FSR 2 through the Xbox Game Development Kit (GDK). Microsoft’s Xbox GDK sample likewise covers FSR 1 and FSR 2, with build instructions for Xbox Series X|S. Its documented support is a platform-specific sample implementation; it is not confirmation of FSR 4.1.

That establishes the official Xbox-specific baseline in the documentation reviewed. It does not establish that a newer FSR version is impossible, but no Series X|S announcement, implementation details, supported-game list, or timing for FSR 4.1 appears in those sources.

Why FSR Next does not confirm an update for current Xbox consoles

In a March 11, 2026 Xbox Wire announcement, Jason Ronald, VP, Next Generation, Xbox, said: “Our team is deep in development on our next generation Xbox console, Project Helix. We are pushing the boundaries of rendering and simulation in partnership with AMD, using FSR Next to power what comes next.” The statement is about Project Helix, not Xbox Series X|S, and does not name FSR 4.1.

The post said alpha versions of Project Helix hardware were planned for developers beginning in 2027. That is a development milestone for the next-generation project, not a release date or update schedule for current consoles. Xbox’s June 19, 2025 AMD partnership announcement describes collaboration on silicon for future devices, including future first-party consoles; the partnership alone does not confirm an FSR update for Series X|S.

What AMD says FSR Upscaling 4.1 changes

AMD now calls its machine-learning-based technology AMD FSR Upscaling, noting that FSR 4 was renamed FSR Upscaling. AMD describes version 4.1 as updating inference for sharper images and improving dynamic-resolution scaling. It also lists reduced ghosting, better particle preservation, detail, and temporal stability among the technology’s benefits.

These are AMD’s descriptions of the technology, not measured results on Xbox Series X|S. AMD’s compatibility information concerns Radeon graphics and certain PC games with the required FSR 3.1 integration; it does not establish compatibility with Xbox consoles. AMD’s product information does not confirm an Xbox Series X|S version or quantify console performance.

What would confirm FSR 4.1 for Series X|S?

A meaningful confirmation would need to identify current Xbox Series X|S support, explain whether developers would integrate it into games or receive it through a platform update, name or describe the games that would use it, and give a timing or rollout plan. Until AMD, Microsoft, or Xbox makes that kind of statement, compatibility and performance claims for Series consoles are speculation.
