What the Switch 2 rumor actually said
On October 23, 2025, GameSpot reported that NateTheHate2 had “heard something” about Baldur’s Gate 3 for Switch 2, but needed more verification before sharing details. That caveat matters: it was a tentative report, not a confirmation that a port was in development. GameSpot’s October 2025 report did not establish a release plan or date.

What Larian said later
During a Reddit AMA reported by Nintendo Life on January 9, 2026, Larian CEO Swen Vincke said: “We would have loved to but it wasn’t our decision to make.” He was responding to a question about a possible Switch 2 port. The comment indicates that Larian wanted to bring the game to the platform but did not control the decision; it does not identify who did. Nintendo Life’s report on the AMA provides the reported exchange.
GameSpot’s January 12 follow-up described the rumor as inaccurate and covered Vincke’s response. His remark adds context, but it does not explain why the port did not happen. The cited coverage does not establish that a rights holder, Nintendo, a licensing issue, or technical constraints were responsible. GameSpot’s follow-up likewise does not name the decision maker.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 officially listed for Switch 2?
No. Larian’s support FAQ, checked October 7, 2026, lists the platforms covered in its current announcement and does not include Switch or Switch 2 as an announced platform for Baldur’s Gate 3. That listing is a useful official reference, but it does not explain the decision Vincke described. Larian’s platform FAQ.

No. Larian’s news page says Divinity: Original Sin 2 became available on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on December 15, 2025. Separately, Larian technical director Bert said the studio would “certainly consider Switch 2 for the next Divinity game.” Those are facts about Divinity, not evidence that Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Switch 2 or that a port is technically feasible.
