Yes. Battlefield REDSEC is free to play, and you do not need to own Battlefield 6 to access it. REDSEC is a separate experience; the full Battlefield 6 game is not included for free.
What does free access to REDSEC include?
Electronic Arts describes REDSEC as its free-to-play experience and lists it at USD 0.00 in the official EA store. REDSEC includes Battle Royale, the round-based elimination mode Gauntlet, and Portal experiences based on REDSEC elements, according to EA’s launch announcement.

Battle Royale matches support 100 players. Gauntlet uses eight teams of four-player squads, per EA’s 2025 announcement.
Do you need to buy Battlefield 6?
No. EA said in its October 28, 2025 REDSEC community update that players can drop into REDSEC without owning the base game. Battlefield 6 owners can also play with friends who do not own it.

What do you need to play?
Although REDSEC itself is free, access requires an EA account and a persistent internet connection. Depending on your platform, a platform account and platform subscription may also be required separately. EA notes that optional in-game purchases are available. These conditions do not mean every player must pay a subscription; check the requirements for your platform.
Which platforms can you play REDSEC on?
EA announced REDSEC for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. On PC, EA named Steam, the EA app, and the Epic Games Store as storefronts.
