Neither the LM-S nor the TAQ-M can be called universally better on the evidence available. The right choice depends on your mode, engagement range, build and ability to land follow-up shots. A published Warzone result for one TAQ-M build is not a head-to-head test, so it cannot establish that the TAQ-M beats the LM-S.
What the available comparison actually shows
CODMunity’s Warzone comparison page, labeled as updated June 10, 2026 for Season 6, displayed a TAQ-M build with a muzzle, barrel, optic, stock and 20-round magazine. It reported average time to kill of 750 ms at 0–10 m, 937 ms at 10–40 m and 1,070 ms at 40–80 m. Those figures describe that selected TAQ-M build in Warzone; they are not multiplayer figures or a matched comparison with the LM-S. See CODMunity’s TAQ-M Warzone page.
There is no established, current, same-mode LM-S-versus-TAQ-M test in the available sources. Without matching mode, range, target health, attachments and tuning, a numerical winner would be misleading.
How to choose between the LM-S and TAQ-M
Compare both weapons in the mode you actually play, using equivalent builds and the same target conditions. The useful question is not simply which has the bigger damage number, but which performs better for your intended range and shooting rhythm.

- Shots to kill and time to kill: Check the values for your mode and target health. A damage-per-shot advantage matters only if it changes a breakpoint or produces a practical time-to-kill benefit.
- Follow-up shots and recoil recovery: A faster firing cadence can help only if you can keep shots on target. Try both at the ranges where you expect to fight.
- Sustained accuracy: Fire repeated shots and observe how reliably you can keep the weapon on target, rather than judging a single shot.
- Handling: Compare aim-down-sight speed and how quickly each weapon feels ready for a fight after movement.
- Ammunition and reloads: Consider magazine capacity and how often you must reload in the situations you encounter.
These are comparison criteria, not proven advantages of either rifle. The available sources do not provide a complete, matched stat table for these factors.
Why your Gunsmith build matters
Modern Warfare II groups weapons into platforms, and receiver changes can alter a weapon’s primary use. Blizzard describes the effect directly: “Change a Receiver, and you completely alter the weapon; it’s considered a ‘new’ weapon when building a Loadout but still lives within the same Weapons Platform.” Read Blizzard’s Gunsmith overview.

Attachments also vary by weapon. Activision’s loadout guide explains that Gunsmith shows attachment pros, cons and stat changes, making it the practical place to inspect your own build. Read Activision’s loadout and Gunsmith guide. Compare builds with similar priorities—such as range or handling—rather than assuming that an attachment setup for one rifle transfers directly to the other.
Do not treat stat bars as definitive measurements: Activision’s Season 06 notes included a fix for an issue that could make bars display incorrect information while comparing weapons or attachments. Use the bars as a guide, then confirm how each build performs in play. See the Season 06 patch notes.

A practical in-game test
- Choose the same game mode and, as closely as possible, the same range and target conditions for each weapon.
- Build each rifle for the same purpose, such as range or faster handling, and keep attachment choices and tuning comparable where possible.
- Fire repeated shots at representative distances. Note shots to kill, time to kill if you can measure it reliably, follow-up control and how often you need to reload.
- Repeat the test after changing one attachment at a time. This helps separate the weapon’s feel from the effect of the build.
- Pick the rifle that performs better for your actual engagements, not just the one with the more appealing stat bars.
How current is the evidence?
Weapon balance and available builds can change with updates. The CODMunity result cited above is labeled for Season 6 and dated June 10, 2026; the official patch notes linked here are from 2023. Neither source establishes a current, directly comparable result for the LM-S and TAQ-M in a specified Modern Warfare II mode. Check the current in-game Gunsmith and test both rifles under matching conditions before making a firm ranking.
