Blue Protocol has returned as a separately listed game called Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, but the available credits do not establish that it is simply the original game under new management. Steam names Shanghai Bokura Network Technology Co. Ltd. as developer and A Plus as publisher. The original was a Bandai Namco PC online action RPG made by Project Sky Blue, a joint team of Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios.
What is Blue Protocol: Star Resonance?
Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is a related title listed on Steam as an MMO/RPG. Steam gives its release date as October 9, 2025, and labels it free to play. The listing also discloses in-app purchases and chance-based in-game purchases: Steam’s store page.
LIONA describes Star Resonance as an MMORPG for iOS, Android, and PC, and credits its own work as CG production and illustration. Its project page lists A PLUS as publisher and October 10, 2025 as the release date: LIONA’s project page. The one-day date difference between LIONA and Steam is unexplained, so use Steam’s date for the Steam release and LIONA’s date for the date shown on its project page.

At the time, Director Keisuke Fukuzaki said on Bandai Namco Studios’ product page: “This is a live service title as well, so we are still working on improvements, additions, and upgrades for the future.” That was a contemporaneous statement about the original game’s development outlook, not an update about its present service status or Star Resonance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does Star Resonance use the original game’s rights or assets?
The available credits establish a change in the companies named as developer and publisher, but they do not explain the legal or production relationship between the two games. The accessible text on the official Japanese Star Resonance site displays copyright notices for Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bandai Namco Studios, X.D. Global, and Shanghai BOKURA Technology. Those notices show which names appear on the site; they do not, by themselves, establish a licensing deal, an asset transfer, or which original-game materials Star Resonance uses.
