Yes. As of October 8, 2026, the US Microsoft Store Game Pass catalog lists Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III as “Included with Game Pass.” Activision says active Game Pass Console, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can access the standard edition. Availability and plan terms can vary, so check the listing in your local catalog before subscribing or downloading.
Which game is included?
This listing is for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the 2023 first-person shooter—not the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from 2011. Activision gives the 2023 game a November 10, 2023 release date and describes it as including a Campaign, Multiplayer, and an open-world Zombies experience. Activision’s game page says it “introduces open combat missions that provide more player choice.”
Which Game Pass plans and platforms?
Activision’s support page says active Game Pass Console, Game Pass PC, or Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can access the standard edition. For PC, Activision lists Microsoft Store, Battle.net, and Steam as storefronts, but its Game Pass instructions direct subscribers to the Microsoft Store edition. Check Activision’s current edition and platform details, and verify your specific plan in your local Game Pass catalog.
Activision lists Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One among the supported platforms. If you install the digital Cross-Gen Edition on Xbox Series X|S, select the version for your console generation when prompted; the bundle may offer versions for both generations.

When did Modern Warfare III join Game Pass?
Xbox announced the addition on July 23, 2024, with access beginning July 24 for Console, PC Game Pass, and Ultimate subscribers. Xbox later announced cloud availability for Ultimate members beginning October 25, 2024. Those are historical launch announcements, not guarantees of current cloud access: check the live catalog for present availability, plan eligibility, and supported devices. Should you use Game Pass or buy the Xbox disc?
| Option | What to know |
|---|---|
| Game Pass | Check that the game is listed as included in your local catalog and that your current plan is eligible. Catalog availability can change. |
| Physical Xbox Cross-Gen Edition | Activision lists the disc edition for Xbox Series X and Xbox One. Physical editions do not work on Xbox Series S. |
| PC storefront purchase | Activision lists Microsoft Store, Battle.net, and Steam. Its Game Pass instructions point subscribers to Microsoft Store. |
The disc is an optional purchase, not a requirement for playing through Game Pass. If you own an Xbox Series S, do not buy the physical edition for that console. See Activision’s edition FAQ for details.
