Conan Exiles crossplay is not something players should assume is available. Funcom said in 2018 and again in 2020 that crossplay was not planned. The 2026 rollout adds an important version wrinkle: Conan Exiles Enhanced launched on Steam for PC, while console players remained on the UE4 version. Check the exact game version and server before arranging a session; a private server does not bridge incompatible platforms.
Is Conan Exiles cross-platform?
Funcom’s published guidance has said that crossplay was not planned. Its Community FAQ answered a question about PC-console crossplay on May 1, 2018, with: “We don’t have any plans for crossplay at this time.” A 2020 developer-stream recap gave a broader answer to crossplay between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC: “No crossplay is planned.”

Those statements are historical, not a current compatibility chart for every platform and game version. The available official guidance does not establish a complete, up-to-date answer for every pair of players. Treat cross-platform play as unsupported unless Funcom publishes newer guidance for the specific platforms and versions involved.
Can Xbox and PC play Conan Exiles together?
Do not assume they can. Funcom’s 2020 statement said crossplay among Xbox, PlayStation, and PC was not planned. The 2026 version split makes checking the exact version especially important: Funcom said on May 5, 2026, that Enhanced was starting on Steam PC while console players continued to have the current UE4 version.

That announcement did not say that Xbox and PC players could join one another, nor did it publish a complete compatibility matrix. Match the game version and server listing, and consult current Funcom guidance before trying to play together.
Can PS5 and Xbox play Conan Exiles together?
Funcom’s 2020 recap said crossplay between Xbox and PlayStation was not planned. The sources available do not provide a newer, pair-by-pair compatibility table for current console versions. Do not count on a shared server unless current official guidance confirms it for the versions you and your friend use.

Can Steam and Epic play Conan Exiles together?
There is no current official compatibility answer established for this particular pairing. In 2020, Funcom noted that PC players using different storefronts could play together when platform-specific differences allowed. That conditional, historical comment should not be treated as confirmation for the 2026 Enhanced and Legacy versions.
In April 2026, Funcom said it was evaluating possible Enhanced releases for Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, Xbox, and PlayStation. Evaluation was not a release announcement, and no schedule or commitment was given. Check Funcom’s current platform and version guidance before relying on cross-store play.

Why the 2026 Enhanced release matters
Conan Exiles Enhanced launched on Steam PC in 2026, while consoles continued to use the UE4 version. That means “PC” and “console” alone may not be enough to identify compatible players: the game edition and server version matter too.
Funcom’s May 5, 2026 announcement said console players retained access to the current version, including official servers, the Bazaar, and critical bug fixes. It also said a console Enhanced release had not been ruled out, but Funcom would first assess the PC upgrade and stabilize that experience. This was not a commitment to a console release or a date.

Before joining a friend, check these details:
- Platform: Steam PC, another PC storefront, Xbox, or PlayStation.
- Game edition: Enhanced or the UE4 version, sometimes referred to as Legacy.
- Server: Confirm that the server is listed for and running the same compatible version as your game.
- Current guidance: Verify the exact combination with Funcom’s latest announcements or support information; the cited statements do not give a complete matrix.
Do private servers enable Conan Exiles crossplay?
No. A private server gives compatible players a private multiplayer space; renting or hosting one does not remove platform or version compatibility restrictions. Funcom identifies G-Portal as its official rental partner and describes platform-specific rentals for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. PC players may also self-host. Choose a server option for the platform and version your group can use, rather than expecting a server to connect otherwise incompatible platforms.
Are character transfers the same as crossplay?
No. Funcom announced returning character transfers in an April 2026 Xbox update and separately re-enabled PC transfers in a hotfix. A character transfer moves a character between servers; it does not show that players on different platforms can join the same server.

What to do if you cannot join a friend
- Compare editions and versions. Confirm whether each player has Enhanced or the UE4 version, and whether the server runs the matching version.
- Check the server’s platform listing. For a rented server, verify that it is intended for the platform your game uses. For a self-hosted PC server, confirm its version and platform requirements.
- Look for current Funcom guidance for the exact pairing. Older crossplay statements and the conditional 2020 PC-storefront comment are not a substitute for a current compatibility confirmation.
- Do not treat transfers or private hosting as workarounds. Neither establishes crossplay between platforms or versions.
