Yes: Activision says Cronus Zen is an unapproved device and is not permitted in Call of Duty. The company has also described improved detection and enforcement for repeated use. But the available official updates do not establish that Activision has sued—or announced plans to sue—the device’s manufacturer. A separate Activision complaint over alleged cheat software concerns a different defendant.
Is Cronus Zen banned in Call of Duty?
Activision’s Team RICOCHET stated on February 2, 2026, that Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix are unapproved third-party hardware and that “These devices are not permitted in Call of Duty.” The same update said Activision had added detections targeting input-modifying devices. How Activision says it is enforcing the policy
In its June 4, 2026 Season 04 update, Activision said it had improved detections for scripted input-modification devices, naming Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix. It described enforcement that can include temporary bans for repeated device use. Activision’s Season 04 RICOCHET update.
Detection considers gameplay inputs
Activision says its detection approach considers how inputs behave during gameplay, rather than relying only on identifying a particular device plugged into a system. The update does not provide a complete technical account of the detection system or a guarantee about how any individual case will be handled.

Repeated use can lead to temporary bans
The June update describes temporary bans as an enforcement measure for repeated device use. It does not establish that every detected use receives the same penalty, and it does not publish a count of affected players.
Did Activision sue the Cronus Zen manufacturer?
The official updates cited above establish a Call of Duty policy and anti-cheat enforcement, not a lawsuit or other documented legal action against Collective Minds or another Cronus Zen manufacturer. No manufacturer-directed filing, legal notice, or official statement establishing such an action appears in the sources available here. The headline’s “wants to take down” framing should therefore not be read as confirmation of a manufacturer case.

Why a separate Activision lawsuit does not prove a Cronus Zen case
A surfaced complaint, Activision Publishing, Inc. v. Julian Angel Valenzuela, filed February 6, 2026, concerns allegations involving Call of Duty cheat software and circumvention of anti-cheat or access-control technology. It names a different defendant and does not establish litigation against the Cronus Zen manufacturer. Complaint reproduction at DocketNexus.
Activision’s anti-cheat policy, its enforcement against players, and a lawsuit against a hardware maker are distinct things. The first two are described in the company’s updates; the third would require a manufacturer-directed filing, direct legal notice, or explicit official statement to verify.
