Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYes—Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is worth buying if you want an atmospheric 3D platformer built around paint-and-thinner puzzles, moral choices, and a “forgotten Disney” setting. The standard edition is the sensible purchase for most players. The main reservation is performance on the European Nintendo Switch review version: Nintendo Life reported uneven frame rates, pop-in, and loads approaching 40 seconds. Those observations apply to that Switch playthrough, not automatically to PlayStation, Xbox, PC, or Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch 2 is the most clearly differentiated version: THQ Nordic says it has higher-resolution visuals, an improved frame rate, mouse-style Joy-Con 2 controls, and the Costume Pack DLC. Choose the Collector’s Edition only if its physical memorabilia matters as much to you as the game itself.

What Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed actually is
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remake of the 2010 game in which Mickey Mouse enters Wasteland, a world populated by forgotten or neglected Disney characters. Its central tool is a magic brush with two materials: paint and thinner. Paint can restore damaged scenery or create usable objects; thinner can erase, dissolve, or alter parts of the environment. The same system drives exploration, puzzles, combat encounters, and relationships with characters.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →That premise makes this a platformer with a stronger adventure-game layer than its cartoon presentation suggests. You are not simply jumping from one obstacle to the next. You inspect a scene, decide what to restore or remove, and accept the consequences of that choice. A painted object may open a route or help a character, while thinner may reveal a shortcut or remove an obstacle at the cost of changing the area. Decisions can influence later outcomes, giving a playthrough more shape than a linear sequence of levels.
#1 Best Overall
- Explore a reimagined Wasteland, full of Disney's timeless characters and stories
- Wield the magic brush: Paint to create, thinner to alter. Every choice shapes your story
- Meet Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Disney's original star, in a rich, narrative-driven world
- Enjoy advanced gameplay with new abilities and enhanced visuals in a classic setting
- Mickey has new moves such as dash, ground pound and sprinting
Nintendo Life’s review also describes side-scrolling interstitial stages, larger areas to explore, collectibles, quests, and decisions with consequences. Some quests are straightforward fetch tasks, so the game’s ambition does not mean every objective is complex. Its appeal comes from how the brush mechanic links the parts together: movement, environmental manipulation, combat, and story choices all use the same readable idea.
How the paint, thinner, and choice systems work
Paint is a construction and restoration tool
Paint lets Mickey repair or create elements in Wasteland. In practical terms, it is the “add or restore” side of the game’s vocabulary. You may use it to make a platform usable, return a damaged object to a functioning state, or resolve a problem in a way that benefits a character. The mechanic encourages you to read the environment rather than treat every surface as decoration.
Thinner is the removal and alteration tool
Thinner performs the opposite job. It can erase parts of the environment, expose what is hidden behind them, or change the shape of a route. Removing something is not automatically the wrong choice; it is another way to solve a situation. The interesting decisions come from weighing an immediate advantage against what your action changes elsewhere.
Choices have consequences beyond a single puzzle
The brush is also a decision system. Characters react to what you do, and the consequences can affect later parts of the adventure. This is why the game can support replaying it with a different approach rather than simply collecting missed items. A player who likes experimenting with alternate solutions will get more from the design than someone who wants every puzzle to have one obvious “correct” answer.
Movement is broader than in the 2010 original
THQ Nordic says the remake adds dash, ground pound, and sprint abilities. Those additions matter because they change how quickly Mickey can traverse spaces and how he approaches platforming challenges. They are remake-level additions to the play experience, not merely a resolution upgrade. The game still alternates between 3D exploration and side-scrolling sections, so the new moves are useful across more than one type of stage.
What was remade, and what was not
The remake keeps the original game’s Wasteland setting and brush-based identity while updating movement and presentation. Nintendo Life’s 2024 review specifically noted camera changes that improve on the original camera problems. That is important for a 3D platformer: a more dependable view can make environmental reading and jumps less frustrating.
Rank #2
The review also makes clear that the remake is not free of compromises. Basic fetch quests remain, and the Switch version tested had technical issues. In other words, Rebrushed is best understood as a refreshed version of a distinctive game, not as a complete redesign that removes every limitation of the original.

Platforms and release information
The original release arrived on September 24, 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, according to THQ Nordic’s release announcement. On October 6, 2026, the publisher announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version. The announcement establishes feature differences for Switch 2, but it does not provide a controlled, platform-by-platform benchmark covering every release.

Which platform should you choose?
Choose Switch 2 for the clearest portable upgrade
Switch 2 is the easiest recommendation when portability is a priority and you own the newer Nintendo hardware. The publisher specifically promises higher resolution, an improved frame rate, mouse-style controls through Joy-Con 2, and the Costume Pack. The announcement does not quantify the frame-rate improvement, so treat “improved” as a publisher description rather than a measured target.
This option is especially attractive if you were interested in the game but concerned about the older Switch review’s technical compromises. It does not prove that every issue disappears, but it gives Switch 2 a stated visual and performance advantage over the original Nintendo version.

The original Switch release remains a reasonable choice for someone who already owns that system and values the game’s setting and mechanics more than technical polish. The European review found the problems tolerable, despite being disappointing. Buy it when the local price is meaningfully lower than the newer version or when you primarily want the portable Nintendo experience and accept the possibility of uneven frame pacing and long waits.

Choose PlayStation, Xbox, or PC according to your hardware and verified local evidence
For the non-Nintendo versions, the supplied material confirms availability but does not support a universal “best” ranking. Start with the hardware you already own, then check current platform-specific testing and your regional price. Xbox buyers also get Smart Delivery, which is useful when moving between Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Do not assume that the Nintendo Switch review’s frame-rate or loading observations describe these versions.
Do not buy a second copy for the Costume Pack alone without checking the offer
The Costume Pack is included with the Switch 2 version according to THQ Nordic. The publisher’s material does not establish identical entitlement rules for every older-platform purchase, so verify the exact store listing and edition description before paying again for content you may already own.
What the Nintendo Switch review tells you about performance
Nintendo Life reviewer Mitch Vogel scored the European Nintendo Switch version 8/10 in a review published September 23, 2024. He praised the world, art direction, environmental brush mechanic, consequences for choices, and replayability. He also credited the camera changes with improving on the original’s camera problems.
That same review recorded unstable frame rates, visible asset pop-in, and loading times that reached just under 40 seconds in some larger areas. The reviewer described drops of roughly 5–10 frames per second during that playthrough and considered the flaws tolerable but disappointing. These are observations from one European Switch review, not independent benchmark measurements and not evidence about PlayStation, Xbox Series, PC, or Switch 2.
For a buyer, the practical conclusion is straightforward: the game’s design quality can outweigh the technical rough edges if you are drawn to its setting and systems, but stable frame pacing and short loads should be part of your platform decision. Look for testing of the exact version you plan to purchase rather than transferring the Switch figures to another machine.

What the Collector’s Edition contains
The THQ Nordic European store listing describes a Collector’s Edition with:

- Use the magic brush: paint to create, thinner to change. Every decision affects your story.
- Meet Oswald the Happy Rabbit, Disney's original star, in a magnificent, story-based world.
- Enjoy advanced gameplay with new skills and improved graphics in a classic setting.
- Mickey features new moves such as the presching, the ground tamper and sprinting.
- A 28 cm Mickey Mouse statue
- An Oswald the Lucky Rabbit keychain
- A vintage Mickey tin sign
- Six postcards
- A collector’s steelbook
- The Costume Pack

How much more it costs in the cited European listing
When accessed on October 13, 2026, the European store displayed €39.99 for the standard listing and €149.99 for the Collector’s Edition. That is a €110 difference in that storefront snapshot. It is not a global current-price guarantee: stock, regional tax, platform selection, promotions, and retailer pricing can change.

If you mainly want to play, the standard edition is proportionate to that goal. If the statue, steelbook, sign, postcards, and Oswald keychain are the reason you are interested, the Collector’s Edition can make sense as memorabilia or a gift. Confirm which platform’s game is included and whether the set is in stock before ordering.
Who should buy Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed?
It is a strong fit for
- Disney fans who want an unusual setting rather than a conventional character platformer.
- Players who enjoy environmental puzzles with more than one possible solution.
- People who like choices that can alter character relationships and later consequences.
- 3D-platformer fans who appreciate exploration, collectibles, quests, and occasional side-scrolling stages.
- Players curious about how a classic game feels after new movement abilities and camera work are added.
- Portable players who can use Switch 2 and value its publisher-announced visual, frame-rate, control, and Costume Pack additions.
It is a weaker fit for
- Anyone who requires proven, consistently stable performance but is considering the original Switch version without checking newer evidence.
- Players who dislike fetch quests or want every objective to be mechanically elaborate.
- Buyers seeking a purely linear platformer with no resource-management or moral-choice layer.
- Collectors who do not value physical items enough to justify the Collector’s Edition’s large premium.
A practical buying checklist
- Identify your hardware. Decide whether you are buying for Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation, Xbox, or PC before comparing prices.
- Check evidence for that exact version. The documented 5–10 fps drops and nearly 40-second loads belong to Nintendo Life’s European Switch playthrough only.
- Compare today’s regional price. Treat the publisher’s suggested retail figures and the €39.99/€149.99 European store snapshot as reference points, not live universal prices.
- Decide whether the Costume Pack matters. Switch 2 includes it according to THQ Nordic; verify entitlements for any other edition.
- Choose your edition based on intent. Buy standard for the game; buy Collector’s Edition for the statue, steelbook, sign, postcards, keychain, and related physical contents.
- Confirm platform identity and stock at checkout. Collector’s bundles can have platform-specific selections, and storefront availability can change.
Verdict: is it worth buying?
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed earns a recommendation for players who value imaginative world design and a mechanic that lets them paint, erase, and reshape their surroundings. Its choices have enough downstream effect to support replaying, and the remake adds movement options and camera improvements that make the original concept more approachable.
The recommendation is conditional on platform. The European Switch review’s technical shortcomings are real, but they do not erase the game’s strongest qualities; they do mean that performance-sensitive buyers should investigate the version they intend to play. Switch 2 is the most clearly specified upgrade, while the other platforms should be selected according to owned hardware, current regional pricing, and trustworthy testing for that release.
For the purchase itself, the standard edition is the value choice. The Collector’s Edition is justified only when its memorabilia is the product you want, not merely a way to obtain the campaign.
