The correct choice depends on the actions shown by your live client, your region, and your current patch. Open the duplicate’s item menu, read the confirmation preview, and check whether the game shows experience gain, material yield, or any transfer loss before you commit.

Arcana is described by player guides as a card system that can influence character statistics or skill lines. The exact shape of the system is not consistent across the available community references: guides disagree about card counts, available slots, and other limits. Treat those details as version- and region-dependent rather than permanent rules.

That uncertainty matters because an Arcana card is not just an inventory collectible. A duplicate can be useful as progression material, while a leveled card may represent resources you cannot fully recover when it is replaced. One unofficial beginner guide says spare cards can be broken down into crystals, while another guide warns players to check current extraction rules before dismantling. Those descriptions support extraction as a possible use, not a guarantee that every client offers the same button or that extraction is always optimal.

How to inspect a duplicate before spending it
- Open your Inventory and switch to the Arcana or card category. Translation and menu names can differ by client.
- Select the duplicate and read its rarity, level, experience, effects, and any lock or favorite status.
- Open every available action, such as feed, train, extract, dismantle, or craft. Do not confirm an action merely because it appears in a shortcut menu.
- Choose a possible target card for feeding and read the preview. Record the displayed experience gain, resulting level, skill-line change, and any warning about random outcomes.
- Open the extraction view separately and record the listed materials. Check whether the view identifies a one-time reward, a quantity that changes with level, or a requirement you do not currently meet.
- If the card is leveled, inspect the replacement or transfer preview before selecting it as material. Cancel if the game warns that some experience will be lost.
- Confirm only after deciding which resource—card progression or crafting material—you need more. Reopen the inventory afterward to verify the card and materials changed as expected.
How Arcana upgrades are described
Feeding a duplicate
An unofficial beginner guide describes feeding spare cards into a target card to provide experience. The target must be a card you expect to retain; feeding into a temporary card can turn a useful duplicate into progress you later abandon. Because the available descriptions do not establish a current universal formula, use the in-game preview as the source of truth for the amount of experience and the resulting level.
Random skill-line outcomes
An unofficial upgrade guide reports that a level increase can improve a random existing skill line. That means an upgrade may raise a line you value, but it may also improve a less relevant line for your build. The preview may show the possible outcome, a range, or only a warning. If the client does not reveal the exact result, budget for an uncertain improvement rather than assuming a particular statistic will rise.

Community descriptions also mention training materials used during card development. The available material does not verify a single current list, cost, or cap for all regions. Read the requirements on the upgrade screen for the specific card and patch you are playing, and avoid spending scarce materials until you know whether the duplicate could supply the same progression more efficiently.
What happens when you replace a leveled card?
A community wiki says that feeding an old leveled card into a new one can lose some of the old card’s experience. No official transfer percentage or universal rule was established, and it is not confirmed that the same behavior applies to every regional version. Assume that transfer may be less than one-to-one unless your current confirmation window explicitly states otherwise.
Before replacing a card, compare the old card’s current level and effects with the new card’s base values. Capture the displayed post-transfer result mentally or with your own notes, then cancel if the loss would delay your build. A higher-rarity card is not automatically better if replacing it discards a large amount of invested experience and the new card does not improve the skill lines you actually use.

Feed, extract, or keep: a practical decision framework
Feed when progression is the priority
- You have a clearly identified target card for your main build.
- The duplicate’s feed preview shows meaningful experience or a level increase.
- You accept that the resulting skill-line improvement may be random.
- You have checked whether a leveled source card would lose experience during transfer.
Extract when materials solve an immediate bottleneck
- The extraction screen is available in your current region and patch.
- The displayed crystals or other materials are required for a near-term craft or upgrade.
- You have no planned card target that would benefit more from the duplicate.
- You understand that extraction is irreversible for that card.
Keep the card when information is incomplete
- The card has an unusual effect, high level, or rarity that you have not compared with your build.
- The game does not show a clear extraction yield or feed result.
- A patch or regional rule change is expected and inventory space is available.
- You are still testing whether your priority is PvE damage, PvP utility, survivability, or another role.
Is there one best Arcana set?
No universal best set is established by the available player guides. One guide specifically frames the choice around the activity being played, including PvE and PvP. A card that improves sustained damage against predictable enemies may be less useful than control, defense, or burst-oriented effects in competitive play.
Build around the content you run most often. List the skill lines your character already uses, identify which Arcana effects directly support them, and compare the live card descriptions rather than relying on a set name from an older guide. If you switch between modes, keep a second group of cards when your inventory and system rules allow it instead of consuming every duplicate for one activity.
Inventory workflow for duplicate cards
- Lock uncertain cards. Use the game’s lock or favorite control when available so a bulk action cannot consume a card you are still evaluating.
- Separate true duplicates from substitutes. Cards with the same name may have different levels, rarities, effects, or regional behavior.
- Choose a target before opening the feed menu. A duplicate has clearer value when you know which card will receive it.
- Check both menus. Compare the feed preview with the extraction preview; do not assume the first available action is the best one.
- Spend one card at a time. Verify the resulting level, skill line, and material balance before processing the next duplicate.
- Review after patches. A maintenance update can change labels, available actions, or the way a card is categorized.
Common problems and what to check
The feed button is missing
Confirm that the selected item is an Arcana card accepted by the current upgrade screen. Some clients may require you to open the target card first and add material from that screen. Also check whether the card is locked, equipped, assigned to a preset, or restricted by a regional rule.

The extraction option is missing
Look for a separate dismantle, salvage, or crafting interface rather than the card’s basic item tooltip. If no such action exists, do not infer that a guide’s extraction description applies to your version. Keep the duplicate until an in-game menu or an official notice confirms how it can be processed.
The result is weaker than expected
Review whether the upgrade selected a random skill line, whether the target had a level cap, and whether the game applied only part of the source experience. The confirmation panel should be checked before every irreversible action, especially when replacing a leveled card.

What is and is not confirmed about current rules
The available material comes from unofficial guides and community references, not an authoritative current AION 2 notice covering duplicate handling, extraction, transfer, or inventory limits. It does not establish universal card counts, slot caps, exact experience-transfer rates, extraction yields, material costs, or a single best set. Those values can differ by region and patch.
Use community explanations as clues to where a function may be located, then verify the live client. When the client and an old guide disagree, follow the current item description and confirmation window. If the game provides no explanation, preserving the card is safer than making an irreversible choice based on an unverified number.
