Yes. Local reporting and school-district statements confirm that Five Nights at Epstein’s has been accessed, discussed or reported in school settings in several parts of the United States. But no reliable national count establishes how many students have played it, how many districts have encountered it, or how often school blocks have been bypassed.
What is known about students playing the game?
Reports describe concerns or incidents in North Carolina, Virginia and Washington state. They establish a multi-location trend, not a measured nationwide count.
North Carolina: Wake County
Wake County Public School System told WRAL it had received two support tickets related to the game. The district said, “The associated website has been blocked on district-managed devices.” It was still working on the second report because the original ticket did not include a specific URL. A parent told WRAL students were still playing, but that account is not a district-wide measurement.
Virginia: Fairfax and neighboring counties
A Fairfax County parent group told WTOP that parents had observed students playing the game. Fairfax County Public Schools described a multilayered response: “That includes content filtering, classroom monitoring tools, parent visibility tools, vendor escalation, cybersecurity monitoring, and school-based intervention,” the district said. Officials in Montgomery and Prince William counties said the game was blocked, while Loudoun County said it had taken steps to prevent access on school-issued devices. These statements document district actions at the time of the report; they do not prove that every version or route of access was eliminated.

Washington: Moses Lake
Moses Lake School District told families it had seen the game in its schools and was responding through technology systems, school supports and family education. Its notice said: “This is something we have seen in our schools and are actively addressing through our technology systems, school supports, and ongoing education with families.” The district said the game was being shared through group chats, links and social media, and encouraged families to discuss respectful online choices and the real-world context of the content. Read the district notice.
Are schools blocking Five Nights at Epstein’s?
Some districts reported blocking the associated website or taking other steps to limit access on school-issued devices. Approaches described in the reporting include web filtering, classroom monitoring, cybersecurity monitoring, staff intervention and communication with families. Policies and tools differ by district, and the available reports do not provide a controlled comparison of how effective those measures are.

A block on a managed device is narrower than a guarantee that no student can reach any version of a game. As WRAL reported, district filtering applies to online activity, while personal devices and offline content involve different expectations and supervision. Wake County’s second support ticket also lacked a specific URL, illustrating a practical challenge: identifying exactly what site or address needs review.
Why might a block not settle the issue?
Filtering a particular website can restrict that address on covered devices, but it does not by itself establish that all versions, links, personal devices or offline copies are covered. NPR interviewed Bloomberg reporter Alexandra Levine, who said, “There are a number of versions of the game online today, but social media has really been key to fueling that fire.” Levine also described social-media posts circulating instructions that purported to show students how to bypass blocks. That reporting does not establish that a particular student successfully bypassed a particular district’s system.

For schools, this makes identification and follow-up important: a new URL or version may require review, while reports from students, families and staff can help a district determine what is being accessed. Moses Lake’s notice also highlights that the game can spread through group chats and social media, not just through a single site.
What is the game, and why has it raised concern?
The game draws on Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, prompting concern about how victims and sexual abuse are represented. Those concerns are reported reactions, not measured evidence of effects on students. In the NPR interview, Levine characterized the versions she had encountered as unsettling rather than especially graphic: “And I also think, you know, when you’re playing the game itself, I’ve gotten the question, is it graphic? And you see that the game is actually not all that graphic at all. It’s more creepy than anything.” Her description should not be taken as a definitive description of every version online.

Do the published figures show how widespread play is?
No. Figures cited in broader coverage are about reporting scope and classroom technology, not this game’s prevalence. The Hechinger Report said its 2026 reporting included more than 45 interviews with parents, educators and experts across the country. It also cited a 2025 New York Times survey in which 70 percent of 350 educators said school-issued devices distract from learning and engagement in class. Neither figure measures how many students have played Five Nights at Epstein’s.
The available reporting does not establish a reliable national estimate of student gameplay, the number of affected districts or the success rate of school blocks. Treat claims that it is being played in US classrooms as reports from several locations, not proof of nationwide scale.
