It depends which emote you mean. The original Floss was a limited-time Season 2 Battle Pass reward, so it is scarce in terms of how it could be acquired. Windmill Floss is a separate Item Shop emote whose catalog rarity is listed as Rare. Neither fact tells us how many players own either emote.
Are Floss and Windmill Floss the same emote?
No. The original Floss and Windmill Floss are separate Fortnite cosmetics. Windmill Floss is identified separately in the cosmetic catalog by the ID EID_WindmillFloss; its Rare label should not be applied to the original Floss.

Is the original Floss rare?
The original Floss is rare in the practical sense that it was a limited-time reward from the Season 2 Battle Pass, rather than a regular Item Shop purchase. The cited history establishes its acquisition route, but the reviewed sources provide no statistic for how many players own it. That means it is not possible to responsibly call it one of the rarest emotes by ownership or assign it an ownership percentage.
Is Windmill Floss rare?
Fortnite.GG’s catalog lists Windmill Floss as a Rare emote, introduced in Season X and priced at 500 V-Bucks when offered in the Item Shop. The catalog records shop appearances, but appearance counts describe tracker records, not how many players own the emote or how likely it is to return.

- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms

A separate fnvault entry identifies Windmill Floss as a distinct item and notes that its shop tracking began on July 15, 2026. Its appearance history is therefore incomplete, so a count from that tracker should not be treated as a complete lifetime total.
Can you get either emote now?
Epic Games says the Item Shop constantly rotates items and that an item that is no longer available may return. That guidance concerns shop items; it is not a promise that every cosmetic will come back. Check Epic’s Item Shop or the in-game shop for current listings. No timestamped live listing establishes whether either emote is available today.

Epic’s current Battle Pass guidance says items released after August 7, 2024 may become available in the shop at least 18 months after the relevant pass expires, with no guarantee. The original Floss is described as a Season 2 reward, so this later rule does not establish that it will return.
