Yes—but only for players who purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before 16:00 UTC on May 5, 2025. Xbox said a code would be sent by direct message to eligible Xbox accounts before Gears of War: Reloaded launched. The game launched on August 26, 2025.
Who qualified for the free upgrade?
The offer applied to people who bought a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before the precise cutoff: 16:00 UTC on May 5, 2025. The Coalition announced the offer that day, and Xbox repeated the same eligibility rule in its launch announcement. The May 5 announcement and the August 26 launch article both specify a digital purchase and that cutoff.
The published rule does not establish eligibility for a physical copy, subscription access, borrowed access, or purchases made after the cutoff. It also does not confirm whether a particular owner’s code was delivered or whether an old code can still be redeemed.
How was the code delivered?
Xbox said the Reloaded code would be sent by direct message to eligible Xbox accounts before launch. The announcement does not provide a universal redemption procedure or confirm delivery to every eligible player.
