No. The free-play period advertised on the US PlayStation Store ran from August 6 to August 10, 2026, and had ended by October 8. The listing also showed the PS4 game for purchase or access through PlayStation Plus Extra when checked on October 8, 2026. Offers and catalog access can differ by country and change over time.
Can I still play Ghost Recon Wildlands for free?
Not through the August 2026 US PlayStation Store promotion: its dates have passed. The listing’s wording was, “Play for free from 8/6 to 8/10! Your progression is saved if you decide to buy the game.” That was a time-limited offer, not a permanent free version. The official US PlayStation Store listing showed the offer had ended when checked on October 8, 2026.

This status is specific to the US listing. The available information does not establish a worldwide offer, and PlayStation Store pricing, subscription catalogs, and promotions vary by region and may change. Check the game’s listing in your own country for current availability.
Is Ghost Recon Wildlands free on PS4 with PlayStation Plus?
The US listing showed access through PlayStation Plus Extra as well as a purchase option. Extra is a subscription, so this is not the same as owning the game outright or claiming a free copy. Before subscribing for this game, check that it is included in the catalog for your region and plan, and consider how long you want access: catalog availability can change. The listing’s displayed options do not establish your subscription price or account eligibility.
#1 Best Overall
- Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is the very first military shooter in a massive, dangerous, and responsive open world that you can play entirely solo or in four-player co-op.
- Bienvenidos a Bolivia: From the infamous Death Road to the world's largest salt flat, journey through Ubisoft's largest open world action-adventure game to date.
- Become a Ghost: Lead a team of four Ghosts, the absolute best of the US military. Play either solo or with up to three of your friends online in this gritty adventure as they seamlessly join you at any point in the game.
- Takedown the Santa Blanca cartel: The Santa Blanca cartel and its infamous leader, El Sueño, are the most powerful, treacherous, and imposing foes the Ghosts have ever faced.
Buy the standard game
The US PlayStation Store listing showed the standard PS4 game at $49.99 on October 8, 2026. Store prices can change, so confirm the current price on the listing before buying.
Use the subscription catalog
The listing showed PlayStation Plus Extra access, subject to the subscription and catalog terms that apply to your account and region. A subscription can provide access while the game remains included, but it is not a permanent purchase.

Does Ghost Recon Wildlands have a free trial?
The dated August 6–10, 2026 event was a free-play period for the game, not evidence of an ongoing trial. The PlayStation Store said progression would be saved if players decided to buy the game afterward. That carry-over statement applies to the promotion described on the listing; it does not mean the game is currently free to start.
Ubisoft has also run free-play events in the past. In an October 9, 2017 announcement, Ubisoft said a separate promotion would run October 12 at 12:00 a.m. PDT through October 16 at 12:00 a.m. PDT, including PS4. That historical event is not evidence of a current offer. Ubisoft’s 2017 announcement also said players could continue solo or with a squad of up to four and carry progress over if they bought the game.

- Put yourself in the shoes of a Spec Ops soldier stranded behind enemy lines as you explore the massive open world.
- Create your own playstyle with a huge variety of classes, weapons, and equipment.
- Maintain all of your progress and rewards however you play, from solo to co-op or even PvP.
- Want more. Upgrade to the Gold Edition, which includes the year 1 pass and three-day early access to the game.
What is included in the PS4 game?
The PlayStation Store describes a near-future Bolivia under the control of a drug cartel. You lead elite soldiers, plan raids, and can use drones, helicopters, and vehicles. The listing describes character, weapon, and gear customization, supports one player, and allows up to four players online. Online play is optional; the Store says PlayStation Plus is required for online play. In-game purchases are listed as optional.
The Store’s content descriptors include Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, and Use of Drugs. Its page displayed a user rating of 4.4 out of 5 from approximately 162,000 ratings when checked. That is a PlayStation Store user-rating snapshot, not an independent review or quality assessment.
Which access option makes sense?
- Choose a purchase if you want to keep access without relying on the game remaining in a subscription catalog. Confirm the current regional price and edition on the Store.
- Consider Extra if you already subscribe, the game is included for your region and plan, and temporary catalog access suits you.
- Wait for another promotion if neither option works for you. Past free weekends show that Ubisoft has held limited-time events, but they do not establish when or whether another one will happen.
Which version does this offer cover?
The verified PlayStation Store listing identifies the game as the PS4 version. The listing also displayed a Definitive Edition discount that was due to end at 06:59 UTC on October 8, 2026; that deadline had passed by the time the listing was checked later that day. Do not treat that expired discounted price as currently available. Check the Store for the current edition, platform, and price in your region.
