Goat Simulator 3 has limited crossplay, not universal cross-platform play. The developer lists three supported pairings: Steam with Epic Games Store, iOS with Android, and Xbox Series X|S with the Microsoft Store version on Windows. PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and cross-generation console combinations are not listed as compatible for online crossplay.
Which platforms can play Goat Simulator 3 together?
The official Goat Simulator 3 FAQ lists these supported crossplay pairings:

The support page includes a broad reminder that the game “does not support cross-play,” but it also lists supported exceptions. Read that warning as a reminder that crossplay is limited to the listed pairings, not as a claim that no crossplay exists.
Does cross-ownership mean you can play across console generations?
No. In an update dated October 15, 2024, the developer described cross-ownership of the same content between PS4 and PS5, and separately between Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. That concerns access to purchased content, not whether players on different generations can join the same online game. The update also reported a physical Nintendo Switch copy available in Asia; this does not establish stock or availability in other regions.

How many players can play together?
Player limits vary by edition and are separate from crossplay compatibility. The developer’s product specifications say multiplayer supports up to four players on PC and consoles, while online multiplayer is for two players on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. Nintendo’s Switch listing describes local or online co-op as a duo. These limits do not make otherwise unsupported platform pairings compatible.

How to invite a friend on a supported pairing
- Confirm the pairing. Check that your storefronts or devices are one of the three supported combinations above.
- Add each other through the platform you are using. The developer’s multiplayer guidance says to add friends through the relevant online platform. PC players need to own the game to appear in the Friends menu.
- Use the instructions for your platform. For iOS and Android, create or join a session using the in-game session code. For Xbox Series X|S and Microsoft Store on Windows, follow the Xbox multiplayer guide.
What if your friend does not appear or you get Error Code 17?
- Error Code 17: The developer says this means the players are on different game versions. Update the game for everyone before trying again.
- Your friend is missing: Check that you are friends on the online platform, refresh the Friends page, or restart the game.
- You are on different console generations: PS4 and PS5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, are not supported crossplay pairings. Shared ownership does not change this.
What to check before buying for a group
- Match the exact platform and storefront, not just the device brand.
- Check console generation: cross-generation ownership does not guarantee cross-generation multiplayer.
- Confirm the online player limit for the edition you plan to use.
- For a physical Switch copy, check the listing and stock in your destination region; the developer’s October 2024 update only reported availability in Asia.
