Xbox announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, for PS5, Xbox, PC, and Steam. A separate January 2025 report said Halo: The Master Chief Collection might come to PS5 and Switch 2; that report was never confirmed by the later announcement.

What the 2025 PlayStation rumor actually said
On January 14, 2025, IGN reported that Halo: The Master Chief Collection could be headed to PS5 and the then-upcoming Switch 2. IGN attributed the initial claim to leaker NateTheHate and reported that Windows Central’s Jez Corden had corroborated it. IGN also said Microsoft declined to comment when contacted. That is a report about an unconfirmed possibility—not an Xbox announcement.

The later PS5 news does not verify that particular rumor. Xbox’s official announcement named Halo: Campaign Evolved, a separate game: a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, rather than a port of The Master Chief Collection.

What is—and is not—confirmed about other Halo games
Halo: Campaign Evolved is confirmed for PS5. The available official announcements do not establish whether Halo: The Master Chief Collection will come to PlayStation or Switch 2, nor do they establish the PlayStation plans for other future Halo titles. Treat those as unanswered questions unless Xbox makes a separate announcement.
