The Steam listing also promotes dynamic weather, seasonal events, online co-op, more than 50 music tracks, and “80+ Hours of Heartfelt Quests.” These counts and the playtime figure are storefront claims, not independently verified totals.

The described activities form a recurring loop: explore for discoveries and materials, make gifts, build friendships, decorate cabins to attract visitors, and take on more quests. That mix gives the game a broader activity set than a story-only adventure, but its value depends on whether you enjoy collecting, character relationships, and customization. Nintendo’s listing also describes befriending characters and restoring the island.
How much does it cost on Switch and PC?
Prices vary by country and can change with sales. At the October 8, 2026 snapshot, the US Steam listing showed the base game for $39.99, discounted to $21.99, with the promotion scheduled to end October 8. Treat that as a dated price check, not a guaranteed price now. The retrieved Nintendo listing did not establish a current US eShop base price, so a reliable numeric US Switch-versus-PC comparison is not available here.

For a practical comparison, check the live price for the same edition in your region. Compare the base game with the base game, not a Steam bundle with a Switch copy, and account for any expansion you actually want. Sanrio’s January 30, 2025 announcement gave historical Japan-region digital pricing of ¥6,578 and packaged Switch pricing of ¥9,790, tax included; those figures are not current US prices.

Cloud-save listings do not establish that saves transfer between Switch and Steam. Nor do the available listings establish equivalent performance between platforms. Choose based on your hardware and whether portable play or PC access matters more to you.

Are the Deluxe Edition and expansions worth paying extra for?
The base game and add-ons are separate purchase decisions. Steam describes its Deluxe bundle as the base game plus three Deluxe bundles. The Deluxe Event Bundle provides more than 300 items or rewards upfront and early legacy cosmetics; the Starter Bundle and Crafting Bundle provide in-game resources. Those extras may suit someone who values cosmetics or wants resources sooner, but the listings do not establish that they are necessary to enjoy the base game.
Steam and Nintendo list three named expansions: Wheatflour Wonderland, City Town, and Tea Garden. At the October 8, 2026 Steam price snapshot, the listings showed:

Nintendo Canada lists the expansions and Deluxe Edition separately in its own regional storefront; its amounts should not be treated as US Steam prices. Check whether an edition or bundle includes an add-on before buying it separately.

- Full price is easier to justify if the Sanrio cast is a major draw and you expect to enjoy a lengthy quest set alongside repeatable exploration, collecting, friendship-building, and decoration.
- A sale is the safer choice if you are unsure whether the cozy collection-and-customization loop will hold your interest. The store’s “80+ hours” claim is not an independent estimate of how long an individual player will take.
- Pick the platform by convenience if the prices are close: Switch has handheld, tabletop, and TV modes; Steam is the PC option with its own listed requirements and Steam Cloud.
- Skip add-ons until you know you want them if you mainly want to try the core game. The listings identify expansions and Deluxe extras, but do not show that they are required for the base experience.
What do player reviews and store claims tell you?
The Steam listing showed 93% positive English-language user reviews from 6,217 reviews in the October 8, 2026 search-result snapshot. That is a time-sensitive Steam user-review snapshot, not a critic score or an independent playtime study; both the count and proportion can change. The “80+ Hours of Heartfelt Quests” wording is likewise the publisher’s Steam listing claim, not a measured average.
