Icebox returned to VALORANT’s Competitive and Deathmatch queues in Patch 10.04 on March 4, 2025, but Riot removed it from those queues in Patch 11.04 on August 19, 2025. The latest official notes checked here, Patch 13.06 from September 22, 2026, do not announce another return. For the live status, check the map pool shown in the game client.
Is Icebox back in VALORANT’s map rotation?
Not according to the latest official rotation notes cited here. Riot’s Patch 11.04 notes said Icebox was out of Competitive and Deathmatch, and Patch 13.06—the latest notes checked, published September 22, 2026—does not announce its return. Riot says the active map pool is visible in the client, which is the best place to confirm current, mode-specific availability.
The rotation changed more than once, so “back” depends on the date being discussed:

The Patch 13.04 update does not establish the complete map pool, and Patch 13.06’s silence about Icebox is not proof of its status in every mode. Check the client rather than treating either note as a complete live roster.

What changed on Icebox in Patch 8.0?
Riot’s detailed Icebox update was a set of targeted edits around Mid and the B-side approaches, not a single cosmetic adjustment. Riot described the aim as adding value to Mid control and simplifying routes toward B Site so fights would be more predictable. The notes do not establish a measured competitive effect.
Attacker Spawn
Riot added a storage container on the left to block the line of sight from Attacker Spawn to B Tube.

B Green
The hanging container was moved to reduce complexity in ground-level fights and encounters involving players boosted above.
B Tube and its exterior
A window was added near the end of B Tube, overlooking Mid and providing sightlines toward A Site and Defender Spawn. Riot said attackers could use it to pressure rotators, while defenders could hold more space from B Kitchen or Mid Boiler. Inside B Tube, two boxes were added, stacked flush against the wall.

B Snow Pile and B Orange
Riot removed the B Orange route nearest B Kitchen, reducing the number of parallel paths from Mid to B. The snowpile was adjusted so players could silently drop off the boxes.

The map remained recognizable, but Riot’s Patch 8.0 list covers several locations and routes: Attacker Spawn, B Green, B Tube, and B Snow Pile/B Orange. Calling the update simply “minimal” understates that scope. The notes describe Riot’s intended design goals, not evidence that the edits improved win rates, pick rates, or match outcomes.

The later Patch 10.04 return identifies the queues affected, but its cited notes do not document a new set of Icebox geometry changes. Keep the two updates distinct: Patch 8.0 explains the layout edits; Patch 10.04 records the later queue return.
