No—not officially. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet do not have native Windows or macOS versions. Nintendo lists them as Nintendo Switch games, with compatibility on Nintendo Switch 2. Unofficial emulation may run the games on some PCs, but it is unsupported and introduces separate legal, technical, online-play, and save-data concerns.
The short answer
- Native PC version: No.
- Official platforms: Nintendo Switch family and Nintendo Switch 2.
- Steam, Epic Games Store, or Microsoft Store release: None is listed by Nintendo.
- Official way to play: Buy the game for compatible Nintendo hardware.
Nintendo’s official product listing identifies Scarlet as Nintendo Switch software and also lists Switch 2 compatibility. The same platform situation applies to Violet. The games originally released on November 18, 2022.

Why the games do not run directly on a PC
Scarlet and Violet are distributed as Switch software, not as Windows or macOS applications. Buying a digital copy through Nintendo gives you a Switch-family software license; it does not provide a Windows executable that can be installed through Steam or another PC storefront.
A powerful gaming PC does not change that platform requirement. Hardware performance and software compatibility are separate issues: Windows cannot launch the Switch version as a normal PC game.

Can an emulator run Pokémon Scarlet or Violet?
In some circumstances, Switch emulation has been used to run these games on PC. That is a technical possibility, not an official PC release or a supported Nintendo solution.
Emulation results can vary with the emulator, game update, operating system, graphics drivers, CPU, GPU, and configuration. Potential problems include shader-compilation stutter, graphical glitches, crashes, audio issues, inconsistent frame pacing, and broken features. Updates to either the game or emulator can also change compatibility.
More importantly, running the game requires dealing with game data, firmware, encryption keys, and other console-related materials. Do not download unauthorized ROMs, keys, firmware, or modified game files. Besides copyright and security risks, unofficial downloads can contain malware.

Owning a cartridge or digital copy does not automatically resolve every legal question surrounding copying, encryption, or circumvention. The legality of emulator software, making or using a backup, obtaining game data, bypassing technological protections, and violating a platform agreement are distinct issues. Laws differ by country and, in the United States, may depend on the specific conduct involved.

Nintendo’s Switch User Agreement and its circumvention-products policy take a restrictive position on bypassing console protections and unauthorized copies. That is Nintendo’s stated position, not a universal summary of every jurisdiction’s law. For advice about your location and specific actions, consult a qualified lawyer.
Will online multiplayer work on PC?
You should not assume that an emulator will provide Nintendo’s supported online experience. Nintendo’s documented multiplayer setup requires compatible Switch hardware, an internet connection, updated software, a Nintendo Account, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership for online features. Players must also use the same software version. See Nintendo’s multiplayer requirements and update guidance.
Do not count on Union Circle, online trading, online battles, or Nintendo Switch Online authentication working normally through unofficial emulation. Even if a game starts and appears playable, that does not mean its network services are supported.

Can an emulator save be transferred to Pokémon HOME?
Pokémon HOME is not a PC version of Scarlet or Violet. Nintendo’s compatibility information documents HOME support for the Switch versions of the games and their official ecosystem; it does not guarantee support for emulator saves.
There is no safe, supported promise that a PC-emulator save or its Pokémon can be transferred to HOME. Invalid, altered, or improperly generated data may create trading, online-play, or account risks. The supported route is to play on compatible Nintendo hardware and use the official console and mobile HOME applications as intended.
What about the DLC?
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is available for the Switch versions. It includes The Teal Mask, released September 13, 2023, and The Indigo Disk, released December 14, 2023. The U.S. price listed by Nintendo support is $34.99, although prices and availability can change.
The DLC is version-specific: the Scarlet expansion works with Scarlet, while the Violet expansion works with Violet. It does not create a PC edition, and unofficial emulation does not provide a supported update or DLC path.

Does Nintendo Switch 2 provide a PC option?
No. Switch 2 changes the hardware choice, not the PC answer. Nintendo says Scarlet and Violet are supported on Switch 2 and receive a free update with improved visuals and frame rate. They remain Nintendo console games rather than Windows or macOS software.
For a new buyer who wants the most current supported experience, Switch 2 is the relevant alternative. For someone who already owns a compatible Switch, upgrading is optional. Nintendo’s official listing reviewed for this article gives a U.S. regular price of $59.99 for either base game and $119.99 for the double pack; regional pricing and promotions may differ.

There is no official Nintendo PC-cloud edition of Scarlet or Violet identified in the supplied official listings. Nintendo’s cloud-version FAQ applies to Switch games specifically designated as cloud versions. The games’ product listing presents them as regular Switch software.

Legitimate ways to play

A controller, capture card, or remote-display setup can improve how you view a Switch on a PC, but none of those accessories makes the game executable on Windows or macOS.

- Choose Scarlet or Violet and buy the Switch version from Nintendo or an authorized retailer.
- Use a compatible Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite where appropriate, or Switch 2.
- Install the latest game update before using internet features.
- Add the version-specific DLC only after choosing the base game.
- Subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online if you want online trading, battling, or multiplayer; it is not required for the basic offline campaign.
Bottom line
There is no official way to play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet natively on a PC. Unofficial emulation may be technically possible, but it is not a simple, supported alternative and can involve uncertain legality, unstable performance, unsupported online features, and risks to saves or Pokémon HOME functionality.
