They can also put your account and device at risk. Epic does not officially support third-party Fortnite software or disclose whether a particular program will trigger a ban.
What counts as a Fortnite hack under Epic’s rules?
Epic’s Code of Conduct tells players not to cheat or promote known cheats. Its Terms of Service are broader: they prohibit using, encouraging, developing, distributing, or supporting cheats, as well as having cheat software, tools, or hardware present on or connected to a device used to access Epic products. The terms also prohibit tampering with or circumventing Gameplay Integrity Tools.
That means the risk is not limited to activating a hack during a match. Epic’s terms address cheats on a device used for its products, and say the company may suspend or terminate an account if it finds evidence of fraud or cheating.
What bans can Fortnite hacks lead to?
Epic’s cheating-specific policy, announced in April 2025, sets out this sequence:

Epic says sanctions can depend on the severity of the offense and a player’s history. Its general Fortnite ban guidance says temporary bans can last up to 365 days and permanent Fortnite bans are indefinite; for the first- and second-cheating-offense sequence, the specific cheating policy is the relevant rule. The Code of Conduct says enforcement is case by case and can range from a warning to a permanent ban. A permanent ban may cost access to games, V-Bucks, and purchased content.
Can you tell whether a hack will be detected?
No reliable safe-use test is available. Epic says it cannot reveal when it bans players for cheating because doing so could affect its security systems. Its terms also say Gameplay Integrity Tools help detect fraud and cheats, and may collect information about an Epic account, gameplay, and unauthorized programs running on a device.

So continued access to an account or match does not show that a hack is allowed or will remain undetected. Epic also says it cannot determine or disclose whether a particular third-party application will result in a Fortnite ban. Its position is that Fortnite and Epic Games do not officially support third-party software; users take that risk themselves. See Epic’s third-party software guidance.
Can Fortnite hacks put your account or device at risk?
Yes, but the risk should be described carefully. Epic’s terms discuss fraud that includes hacking or stealing Epic accounts, and describe cheats as potentially including malware. Its community rules also prohibit phishing and deceptive attempts to obtain account information. That is reason to avoid unofficial cheat download sites and never share your Epic password with a cheat seller.

These official statements do not establish what proportion of cheat downloads are malicious or prove that any particular file contains malware. Do not treat a seller’s assurances as evidence that a program is safe.

Epic specifically warns against tools intended to hide or alter hardware identifiers to avoid a hardware ban. According to its hardware-ban guidance, a player may be removed from a match if such alterations are detected. Failing to remove them or making further attempts to bypass restrictions can lead to account action, up to a permanent ban.
What should you do if Epic has sanctioned your account?
Use Epic’s official Sanctions and Appeals Portal to review a sanction and appeal it if it is eligible. Follow the sanction information Epic provides and submit the appeal through that route rather than using a bypass tool or a third party claiming it can reverse the decision.
