Is KOTOR 2 Getting a Remake? What the Reported “Juliet” Plans Reveal

A KOTOR II remake was discussed with Aspyr under the codename “Juliet,” according to testimony later reported by GamesRadar. Lucasfilm Games executive Douglas Reilly described a plan to modernize the game while retaining its story, characters, and general content. That is evidence of a project being discussed—not a public launch announcement or confirmation that it is still in production. The separate KOTOR I remake, meanwhile, was confirmed to still be in development in March 2026.

What was the reported KOTOR II remake plan?

In testimony from March 2025 that surfaced in later reporting, Lucasfilm Games vice president and general manager Douglas Reilly said “Juliet” was the codename for a project discussed with Aspyr to remake Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. GamesRadar reported his description of the proposal: modern art and gameplay, updated graphics, and support for modern hardware, while keeping the original story, characters, and general content. GamesRadar’s account of Reilly’s testimony is the source for these details.

Reilly’s remarks describe plans and discussions at the time of his testimony. They do not establish that Juliet received a formal public greenlight, remains active, or has a release date. No preorder or remake availability is established by the available announcements and reporting.

How Juliet differs from the KOTOR I remake

The KOTOR I remake is a separate project with a public announcement. On September 9, 2021, Aspyr lead producer Ryan Treadwell said Aspyr, Lucasfilm Games, and Sony Interactive Entertainment were rebuilding Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic from the ground up. The announcement described it as a PS5 console exclusive at launch and said the remake would update technology, features, and visuals while preserving the story and characters. That platform detail belongs to the 2021 announcement; it is not a current platform list or release window. Read the original PlayStation announcement.

Later reporting said development of the KOTOR I remake had moved to Mad Head Games. On March 6, 2026, GamesRadar quoted Saber Interactive chief creative officer Tim Willits from an IGN interview saying, “Yes, it is still in development,” then adding, “That’s all I can say.” The update confirms only that the KOTOR I remake was still in development when Willits spoke; it did not provide a release window or resolve every question about the studio handoff. GamesRadar’s March 2026 report covers the statement and reported handoff.

KOTOR I remake A remake of the original Knights of the Old Republic. Announced by Aspyr, Lucasfilm Games, and Sony in 2021; later reporting said development moved to Mad Head Games. Saber Interactive’s Tim Willits said in March 2026 that it was still in development. No release date established in the cited announcement or March 2026 update.
KOTOR II / Juliet A proposed remake of The Sith Lords, discussed with Aspyr under the reported codename “Juliet.” Details come from Lucasfilm Games executive Douglas Reilly’s testimony, reported by GamesRadar; this is not a public launch announcement or confirmation of current production. Is Fate of the Old Republic a KOTOR sequel?

No. Fate of the Old Republic is a separate, officially announced single-player RPG from Arcanaut Studios in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, led by Casey Hudson. Lucasfilm Games executive Douglas Reilly said it is not a direct sequel or continuation of KOTOR. The official announcement describes it as a new game, not the KOTOR II remake or the KOTOR I remake. The original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords has platform support information from Aspyr, including a Nintendo Switch FAQ and support sections for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. These support pages establish that original-game editions exist; they do not confirm current retail stock, price, or a physical cartridge. Check Aspyr’s KOTOR II support pages. If you see a listing, make sure it is labeled as the original game rather than a remake.
