Leon S. Kennedy is in Resident Evil Requiem, and Capcom’s official game information confirms his appearance. The story behind the “leak,” however, involves two separate claims: producer Masato Kumazawa dismissed an earlier eyepatch image and Leon costume/DLC rumors as “fake news,” while later reports said a PlayStation Store image showed Leon behind Grace Ashcroft.
What the PlayStation Store leak reportedly showed
In December 2025, Windows Central and GameSpot reported that an image on the PlayStation Store appeared to show a more mature Leon S. Kennedy standing behind Grace Ashcroft. That was a later episode than the eyepatch image and costume/DLC rumor discussed by Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa.
The Store image was reported by those outlets; the reports do not establish an independently verified, archived Sony confirmation of how the listing changed. Capcom’s later official character information settles the underlying question of Leon’s presence without requiring the Store image to serve as proof.
Why the producer called an earlier Leon rumor “fake news”
In a Stevivor interview published in November 2025, Kumazawa said that claims beyond Capcom’s official information were player detective work. He specifically addressed an image showing Leon with an eyepatch and claims that Leon would receive DLC or a new costume, saying those specific claims were “fake news.”

- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
That was not an unambiguous denial that Leon would appear in the game. It referred to the eyepatch image and the costume/DLC assertions, so it should not be conflated with the later report about a PlayStation Store image showing Leon behind Grace.
“Apart from any official information that Capcom has released, the rest is more detective work [on the part of players].”
