Kennedy is one of the two protagonists in Resident Evil Requiem, alongside FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. PlayStation’s current official game page confirms that both have their own gameplay and can be played in first- or third-person. A PlayStation Store leak first hinted at Leon’s inclusion in 2025, but the official listing now settles the question.
What the PlayStation Store leak revealed
The first reported store clue appeared in a Portuguese PlayStation Store Deluxe Edition listing. TechRadar reported on October 30, 2025, that the listing named five additional cosmetic skins, including a Leon costume called “DSO Special Agent”; the page was later edited to remove the character reference. TechRadar’s report also relayed claims from leaker Dusk Golem, but those additional claims should not be confused with what the store listing itself reportedly showed.
A separate incident followed in December. PC Gamer reported that some players who had bought digital copies and checked preload details saw updated cover art featuring Leon. That was another reported hint, not confirmation of his story role or the amount of time he would be playable. PC Gamer’s report speculated that an official reveal might be imminent, but the timing of any planned reveal was not established.
What Leon’s role is in Resident Evil Requiem
PlayStation’s official game page identifies Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy as the game’s two protagonists. It describes Leon as a seasoned DSO agent investigating deaths in the Midwest, while Grace is an FBI analyst. The page also presents their playstyles as contrasting rather than suggesting that Leon is the sole lead. Read PlayStation’s official game description.

Grace and Leon have different gameplay approaches
- Grace: Her gameplay focuses on survival with limited resources, analyzing threats, and crafting.
- Leon: His gameplay emphasizes firearms, a hatchet, melee attacks, parries, enemy weapons, and equipment customization.
- Perspective: PlayStation says both characters’ stories can be experienced in first- or third-person.
These descriptions confirm that Leon has his own gameplay; they do not establish a percentage of the game devoted to him, a playtime split, or specific plot events.

Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline Resident Evil title, according to PlayStation and Capcom. Its announced release date was February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom reported more than 170 million cumulative sales across the Resident Evil game franchise as of March 31, 2025. That is a franchise-wide figure, not sales of Resident Evil Requiem.
