Who is making the Martha Is Dead film?
The January 2024 announcement named André Hedetoft and Andreas Troedsson as co-directors. Hedetoft is also attached as screenwriter, while Troedsson is attached as cinematographer. LKA founder and game creator Luca Dalcò is collaborating on the adaptation. What will the movie be about?
The film is based on LKA’s 2022 first-person psychological thriller. The game follows Giulia, a young woman investigating the death of her twin sister Martha in Tuscany in 1944, amid World War II, local folklore and psychological distress.
Studios Extraordinaires’ project page describes a film narrative with a 1955 frame: an older Giulia revisits her memories through interrogations. That is the synopsis currently presented on the company’s page, not confirmation of a locked final screenplay or a promise that the film’s plot will match the game scene for scene.

What the filmmakers have said
Luca Dalcò said the game’s narrative was planned and visualized with cinematic quality in mind, calling its adaptation “a dream come true.” Wired Productions managing director Leo Zullo described the game’s narrative and setting as a strong basis for a film. Hedetoft and Troedsson said they aim to bring the story to film while staying true to its essence. Those comments express the partners’ ambitions, not confirmation of a finished film or its eventual creative choices.
