It may be worth buying if you want high-stakes cooperative zombie survival and are comfortable with ongoing post-launch refinement. No More Room in Hell 2 reached full release on August 11, 2026, after entering Early Access in October 2024. Its central appeal is teamwork under pressure; its main cautions are a mixed recent-review snapshot, acknowledged launch issues, and roadmap features that are still plans rather than delivered content.

What kind of game is No More Room in Hell 2?

Torn Banner Studios describes it as an eight-player online co-op zombie shooter set in the outbreak-struck northeastern United States. In Scenario mode, Responders travel across six maps, complete objectives and extract supplies. The store also lists a distinct Survival mode; the two modes should not be treated as the same mission loop. The game supports proximity voice chat, and Steam lists cross-platform multiplayer, though the available store information does not specify which platforms can play together. Steam store page

Scarce ammunition and supplies, infection risk and the possibility of permanent character loss make coordination and risk management central to its design. Steam says a dead Responder can rise against allies, and a character can be lost along with individual progress. These are design stakes, not a guarantee that every match will feel equally difficult or frightening.

Who is likely to enjoy it?

  • Good fit: players seeking demanding co-op, communication with nearby teammates and consequential survival decisions.
  • Less suitable: players looking for a relaxed solo campaign, a forgiving arcade shooter or a technical experience they expect to be trouble-free.
  • Content-sensitive players: the game includes mature violence and gore.

This is a fit judgment based on the listed mechanics, not a hands-on verdict.

What do players think, and how polished is it?

When Steam was accessed on October 4, 2026, English-language reviews were “Mostly Positive” at 72% positive from 9,719 reviews, while recent reviews were “Mixed” at 69% positive from 1,283 reviews. These are dated storefront figures, not fixed ratings; check the live Steam page before buying.

  • HOW TO PLAY: The Dealer draws a Scenario Card and reads it aloud. The other players choose two of their Action Cards and play them, facedown. The Dealer shuffles the Action Cards and picks the one they definitely would not do, saying "HELL NO!" Then, they pick the Action Card they definitely would do, saying "HELL YEAH!"
  • SITUATION: While scuba diving, your wound starts bleeding, and sharks begin to circle. What do you do?
  • ACTION: Ask for an autograph! Hell No
  • ACTION: Use your jetpack to escape! Hell Yeah
  • REPEAT PLAY: With 135 Situation Cards and 387 Action Cards you'll never run out of wild predicaments

In an August 20, 2026 post, Torn Banner acknowledged launch issues and described planned hotfixes, work to reduce character losses caused by disconnects, and controller-support refinements. Subtitles were under investigation in that post, not confirmed as delivered. Its September 16 roadmap said the studio would continue improving map usability and the core experience. These updates show ongoing refinement, but do not establish that every reported issue has been fixed. August developer update · Autumn 2026 roadmap

How much does it cost, and should you wait for a sale?

Torn Banner said on June 26, 2026, that the USD base price would remain $29.99 at 1.0, while allowing for lower prices during sales. That is not a guarantee of the current price in every country: regional pricing and temporary discounts vary. Steam showed a discounted Australian-dollar offer when accessed, expiring October 8, 2026; that was a local, time-limited snapshot. Check your regional store page for the checkout total. Steam also lists optional paid cosmetic packs. The available information does not establish that they are needed for gameplay.

What about cross-play and controller support?

Steam lists online co-op, cross-platform multiplayer, Easy Anti-Cheat, a third-party EULA and online interaction. The store details available here do not provide a full platform-by-platform cross-play matrix, so confirm that your intended group can connect before purchase.

Torn Banner said native PC controller support was planned alongside the console launch, with Steam Deck and controller compatibility being addressed. Its August update described further deadzone and menu-navigation work. These dated statements indicate active refinement; they do not certify current compatibility quality on every device. • Planned for the rest of 2026: Responder Retirement and Hell Mode, two new Survival maps, continued map refinement, new weapons and usability improvements.
  • Targeted for early 2027: the first new Objective-mode map, with more maps planned.
  • Also planned: a separate progression track for Solo Mode.

The same September roadmap is the later source for forward-looking dates than the studio’s August post, which had described September and October updates, objective variety, attachments and additional gameplay items. Autumn 2026 roadmap · August developer update

Buy now or wait?

Buy now if the local price works for you and you specifically want cooperative zombie survival built around voice communication, scarce resources and persistent-character stakes. Waiting for a sale or more updates makes more sense if launch-era technical concerns, a broader established map selection or the not-yet-delivered roadmap are decisive for you. Before checkout, check current reviews, your regional price, PC requirements, the third-party EULA and anti-cheat details, and cross-play compatibility for your group.
