What is down on PlayStation Network?
In the October 8, 2026 status capture, PlayStation identified a problem with creating an account on the web. The notice said, “You might have difficulty signing in or creating an account. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.” PlayStation listed the issue as beginning at 12:08 AM; the page did not specify a time zone or provide an estimated restoration time.
The same status page marked these services as running:
- Gaming and social
- PlayStation Store
- PlayStation Video
- PlayStation Direct
That does not establish that every user or feature is working normally, but it is not evidence of a confirmed, service-wide PSN outage. The page also noted external internet-wide issues, without naming a cause or geographic scope.

How to check whether PSN is still having problems
- Open the PlayStation Service Status page and refresh it. Its component list is the best source for current availability.
- Check the specific service related to your problem. A web account-creation issue is different from an outage affecting gaming, the Store, or other services.
- If you want a second signal, IsDown’s PlayStation Network page aggregates user reports. Its October 8, 2026 result showed an account-management/Create Account issue and two user reports in the previous 24 hours at the displayed check. Treat that as supporting context, not an official Sony incident record.
What to do if you cannot create a PlayStation account
If the problem is creating an account on the web, PlayStation’s status notice says users might have difficulty and that the company is working on the issue. Check the status page again later rather than changing account details or buying or replacing equipment: the reported problem is service-side, and the available information does not support those steps as fixes.
What to do if your console cannot connect
If PlayStation’s services are shown as running but your console still has connection trouble, use PlayStation’s account and network support page to reach its official Repairs troubleshooting tool. The captured status does not identify a cause for individual console connection problems, so it cannot establish that the account-creation incident is responsible.
