First check whether Sony lists an issue with the service you are trying to use. If the status page does not show a relevant service problem, Sony’s guidance for PS5 error E2-8223b400 recommends the following steps:
- Check the PlayStation Network status page.
- Turn off your router and modem, wait at least five minutes, then turn them back on.
- If the issue continues, visit PlayStation Repairs for the next support steps.
Sony describes E2-8223b400 as a failure to connect to PlayStation Network that may be due to server congestion. These steps address connection troubleshooting; they do not establish the cause of a broader service outage.

What is known about earlier PlayStation Network outages?
Reports about past incidents should not be treated as evidence about the October 2026 status snapshot. The Associated Press reported on two distinct earlier outages:
