There is no confirmed 2025 reprint of Moonbreon. The nickname refers to Umbreon VMAX 215/203 from Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies. Pokémon said in March 2025 that it would continue reprinting impacted products generally, but did not name this card or its set. Nor does the available evidence establish Moonbreon as 2025’s most expensive Pokémon card.
Which card is Moonbreon?
“Moonbreon” is the collector nickname for Umbreon VMAX, card 215/203, from the Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies expansion. Its official card record identifies it as a Pokémon VMAX card illustrated by Keiichiro Ito; “Moonbreon” is not the printed card name. See Pokémon’s official card entry and the official Evolving Skies card list.
Is Moonbreon being reprinted in 2025?
No card-specific announcement in the available official records confirms that Umbreon VMAX 215/203 is being reprinted or returning in 2025. On March 27, 2025, The Pokémon Company International said it would maximize production for future expansions and continue reprinting impacted products to replenish stock at participating retailers. That statement is about products generally; it does not identify Moonbreon, Evolving Skies, or a reprint of this individual card. Read the March 27, 2025 availability update.
A general commitment to increase production is not evidence that a particular older card is included. Treat claims that Moonbreon is “coming back” as unconfirmed unless Pokémon names the card or provides another clear, card-specific confirmation.

Is Moonbreon 2025’s most expensive Pokémon card?
That ranking is not established here. A defensible “most expensive” claim needs a defined comparison: the date range, the card’s condition or grade, the market and currency, and whether it ranks completed sales, asking prices, or an estimated market value. Without a specified measure and comparable sales evidence, an overall 2025 superlative cannot be verified.
Don’t confuse Moonbreon with Prismatic Evolutions’ Umbreon ex
Prismatic Evolutions includes a separate Umbreon ex special illustration rare, sometimes nicknamed “Sunbreon.” TCGplayer described that card as the most expensive card in Prismatic Evolutions when its article was published. It is not Umbreon VMAX 215/203, is not from Evolving Skies, and is not a Moonbreon reprint. That set-level description also does not establish that Moonbreon—or any one card—was the most expensive Pokémon card overall in 2025. Read TCGplayer’s Prismatic Evolutions list.
