The franchise has announced remakes alongside Legends games before. On February 26, 2021, The Pokémon Company International announced Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, Pokémon Shining Pearl, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It described Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl as a fresh way for fans to experience the original Diamond and Pearl story and game features.
