What is the claim about a 2026 release?
On February 6, 2026, Insider Gaming reported that NateTheHate had answered that, as far as he knew, plans were for the release to arrive “this year.” In that report, “this year” meant 2026. The article did not reproduce a fully verified statement from him, so the claim is best treated as secondhand reporting of an insider’s expectation—not a confirmed schedule.

Insider Gaming also said Rockstar had not officially confirmed a current-generation update. As of October 8, 2026, the sources available here establish no Rockstar announcement or release date for an RDR2 Enhanced Edition.
What has Rockstar or Take-Two confirmed?
The official product listings are for the existing game, not an Enhanced Edition. PlayStation’s US store page lists Red Dead Redemption 2 as a PS4 game and says PS5 play requires the relevant system software. It does not announce a native PS5 edition.

Rockstar’s PC store listing offers Red Dead Redemption 2 and its Ultimate Edition. The base game includes Story Mode and Red Dead Online; the Ultimate Edition adds the listed Special and Ultimate Edition content. These are current editions of the existing PC release, not evidence of a new enhanced version.
Take-Two’s fiscal third-quarter 2026 report lists Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare as having launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 on December 2, 2025. That is the first Red Dead Redemption, not Red Dead Redemption 2. The report’s release slate does not list an RDR2 Enhanced Edition, but a dated slate is not proof that a project is canceled or absent from all plans.

What features, platforms, price, or upgrade policy are known?
None of the reviewed sources confirms an Enhanced Edition’s features, platforms, price, or upgrade policy. In particular, there is no verified basis to promise 4K or 60 FPS, a Switch 2 version of RDR2, a free upgrade, or a paid re-release. Those are possibilities fans may speculate about, not established product details.

Yes. The existing PS4 version is listed on PlayStation, and Rockstar lists a PC version. Rockstar’s PC store specifies Windows 10 minimum requirements, 8GB of memory, and 150GB of disk space; it also says installation, activation, and online play require Rockstar Launcher and Social Club account access. Those are requirements for the listed PC game, not for a rumored Enhanced Edition.

If you are considering buying the game now, treat any listing as the existing version unless it explicitly identifies a newly announced edition. The PS4 game was released on October 26, 2018, according to Rockstar’s store listing.
