Yes. Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man is on MTG Arena: Wizards announced its Arena release for June 16, 2026. That reversed the company’s April 2025 position that Spider-Man and future Marvel sets would stay off digital Magic platforms. Through the Omenpaths was the original digital substitute; its cards now also grant Spider-Man versions to eligible Arena collections.
Is Spider-Man on MTG Arena?
Yes. Wizards of the Coast announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man would arrive on MTG Arena on June 16, 2026, and confirmed the launch in an announcement on June 15. The branded Spider-Man cards can be acquired with Arena packs or wildcards; players do not need to own physical Spider-Man cards to access the digital release. Wizards’ Arena launch announcement provides the release details.
The earlier headline that Spider-Man would not join Arena described Wizards’ policy as of April 21, 2025. It is no longer accurate as a present-day claim: Wizards changed course in May 2026 and said Spider-Man, along with past and future Marvel sets, would come to Arena. The May 19, 2026 update also announced Marvel Super Heroes for Arena on June 23, 2026.
What was Through the Omenpaths?
In April 2025, Wizards said that Marvel’s Spider-Man and future Marvel sets would not be released on digital Magic platforms. As an alternative for full sets that were legal in all formats but otherwise absent from digital play, Wizards proposed Through the Omenpaths: digital Universes Within versions with mechanically matching cards, but different names, art, and creative treatment. The original announcement described the goal as preserving mechanical parity in digital formats when licensed Universes Beyond sets were not coming to those platforms. The first Through the Omenpaths release arrived on Arena on September 23, 2025. Wizards’ FAQ listed it as legal in Arena Standard, Alchemy, Historic, Pioneer, Timeless, Brawl, and other formats at that time; bonus-sheet cards had narrower legality. Those are historical release details, not a guarantee of current format legality, so check Arena’s current format information before building a deck. Wizards’ September 2025 FAQ explains the launch.
What happened to existing Through the Omenpaths cards?
Wizards said Arena would grant each eligible Through the Omenpaths card in a player’s collection its equivalent Marvel’s Spider-Man card. The Omenpaths printing remains available as a card style for the corresponding card, so the conversion adds the Spider-Man version rather than removing the original presentation.
- Owned cards: Each Omenpaths card grants its equivalent Spider-Man card under the announced collection conversion.
- Unopened packs: Wizards said unopened Omenpaths packs would automatically open the first time the player logged in after the update, granting their contents and equivalent Spider-Man cards where eligible.
- Existing decks: Decks remain usable and default to the Spider-Man printing; players can apply the Omenpaths style if they prefer that look.
The details are from Wizards’ May 19, 2026 collection update.

How do Arena and tabletop Spider-Man cards differ?
The tabletop set and Arena release are separate ways to play and collect. The physical product consists of tabletop cards; Arena cards are acquired digitally through packs or wildcards. Physical purchases are not a prerequisite for the Arena set. For Arena players who already had Omenpaths cards, the announced grant links the two digital collections while preserving the Omenpaths treatment as an optional style. Wizards’ Marvel’s Spider-Man product page covers the tabletop release.
What changed in Wizards’ Marvel plans?
The policy changed between the April 2025 announcement and the May 2026 update. Wizards first said Marvel sets would not come to digital Magic platforms and offered Through the Omenpaths as a digital counterpart. In May 2026, it announced Spider-Man for Arena on June 16 and Marvel Super Heroes for June 23, adding that past and future Marvel sets would also come to Arena. Wizards said there would not be an equivalent Through the Omenpaths release for Marvel Super Heroes.
That means Through the Omenpaths remains relevant to the Spider-Man cards Arena players already received, but it is not the only way to encounter Spider-Man on the platform: the branded cards are available too. Wizards’ original April 2025 announcement and May 2026 update document the change in position.
