No. Star Wars Genesis is a Starfield modlist, and the project says it will not be released for Xbox or the in-game Creations platform. Xbox players can use separate Star Wars-themed Creations, but those are not the Genesis modlist.
What is Star Wars Genesis?
Genesis is a curated modlist that uses Starfield’s engine and framework to create a Star Wars role-playing experience. The project FAQ describes it as replacing or rewriting quests, locations, dialogue, context, and characters while adding new content. It is not a standalone Xbox game or a single Creations download. The project FAQ is the source for the project’s description.

The project says Genesis is collaborative: one person manages and funds it, with contributions from mod authors and volunteers. Its FAQ also reports that roughly 20% of Starfield’s quests had been converted at the time of the page’s FAQ text. That is a project-reported development estimate, not an independently measured or necessarily current progress figure.
Why can’t you install Genesis on Xbox?
The project FAQ’s position is categorical: it says Genesis is not coming to Xbox or Creations. The FAQ gives technical and installation-related reasons, including limits on modlist and individual mod size, lack of loose-file support, sound replacement problems, dependencies on SFSE, and the absence of an automatic modlist installer. These are the project’s explanations; they should not be read as independently verified statements of Microsoft policy.
#1 Best Overall
- The following games are included in the cartridge: STAR WARS Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (3.6 GB)
- STAR WARS Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (1.1 GB)
- STAR WARS Episode I Racer (254 MB)
- STAR WARS Republic Commando (2.5 GB)
- STAR WARS: The Force Unleashed (3.4 GB)
The FAQ says Xbox has a 100 GB modlist limit while Genesis is nearly twice that size, and that individual Creations mods are limited to 2 GB while Genesis includes larger mods. It also says the list needs features and tools unavailable through that route. Those limits and compatibility details are attributed to the project FAQ; it does not date the figures.
Does Genesis work on PC Game Pass or the Xbox app?
No, according to the project FAQ. It says Genesis is Steam-exclusive and cannot be installed with the PC Game Pass or Microsoft Store versions of Starfield, citing encrypted game files and dependencies on SFSE, Mod Organizer 2, and Wabbajack. A January 14, 2026 Pure Xbox report likewise describes the supported route as Steam and says the modlist does not work on Xbox or the Xbox PC app.

Using an Xbox controller, or playing on an Xbox-branded Windows device, does not make the Xbox console edition compatible. The relevant distinction is the supported Starfield PC installation and its modding tools, not the controller or device branding.
What can Xbox players use instead?
Xbox Series X|S players can look for separate Star Wars-themed mods in Starfield’s in-game Creations suite. Pure Xbox reported their availability, but individual Creations are not the complete Genesis list and should not be described as Genesis on Xbox.

- Play through all nine films in a new, fun filled adventure
Genesis’s FAQ says it has close to full controller support on its supported setup, with some technical issues during initial startup that it says do not prevent gameplay. That controller-support claim does not indicate Xbox compatibility.

Check the project’s current installation instructions and patch notes before setting it up. The FAQ page displays patch-note entries through version 8.8.31, dated September 28, 2026; that identifies what the page shows, not an independently verified latest version. Modlist requirements and installation details can change.
