Yes, if you want ranged pressure and are happy to alternate blaster shots with lightsaber attacks. The Blaster stance is not a universal best choice: it gives up some close-range pressure and defensive comfort for the ability to damage enemies before closing in. Treat it as one option in your loadout, not a replacement for every other stance.
What the Blaster stance does
In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Cal fights with a blaster in one hand and a single-bladed lightsaber in the other. The blaster lets you soften enemies from a distance or deal with weaker targets without immediately approaching them. In exchange, the stance offers fewer lightsaber moves and less comfort when you are under pressure at close range. Windows Central’s stance guide describes these as qualitative trade-offs, not controlled performance results.

When the Blaster stance is worth using
- You want to engage at range. Use shots to pressure distant enemies or weaken a target before moving into melee.
- You want to handle weaker enemies without closing the gap. Ranged attacks can make that approach more convenient.
- You are willing to mix weapons. Ammunition is limited; a Gamers Decide guide updated August 6, 2024 says lightsaber hits replenish it. That makes the stance a ranged-and-melee combination rather than a setup for firing continuously.
- You have another stance ready for close quarters. You can equip two stances and switch between them at meditation points, according to Windows Central.
When another stance may suit you better
If you prefer sustained lightsaber pressure at close range, or want to feel more comfortable defending yourself in a crowded fight, Blaster’s trade-offs may outweigh its range. Consider what an encounter asks of you rather than treating any stance as the best in every situation.
For comparison, Windows Central characterizes Double-bladed as helpful against groups and Crossguard as a slower, high-impact option. Those descriptions are broad guide characterizations, not measured rankings. A 2024 Gamers Decide guide rates Blaster Power 3, Speed 7, Range 10, and Defence 5; these are that guide’s subjective scores, not official game statistics or damage measurements.

The stance unlocks during the Jedha story progression. Pro Game Guides says Bode gives Cal the blaster after the first primary story mission on Jedha; Windows Central also places the unlock in the Jedha story. Follow the main story there to obtain it.
