Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsNo. In current vanilla Minecraft, curing the same villager repeatedly does not multiply its cure discount. Java Edition documented the change during the 1.20.2 development cycle, and Bedrock Edition documented it in version 1.20.30.
What changed in Java and Bedrock?
| Edition | Documented fix | What Mojang says |
|---|---|---|
| Java Edition | Snapshot 23w31a, in the 1.20.2 development cycle | Mojang’s snapshot notes say a cure gives the big discount only the first time and that reinfecting and curing the same villager no longer grants a bonus discount. |
| Bedrock Edition | Version 1.20.30 | Mojang’s release notes say the discount no longer increases when the same villager is reinfected and cured multiple times. |
These are the documented update milestones; they do not establish behavior for every older build or for modded games, plugins, and server forks.

Why might a villager’s trades still look cheaper?
Repeated cures are different from other reputation and event effects. Bedrock community documentation distinguishes the direct discount on the villager that was cured from an area-of-effect discount affecting nearby villagers, and also identifies Hero of the Village discounts. It says direct and area-of-effect discounts can apply together. Those additional effects can make prices look lower without repeated cures multiplying the cure discount. See Bedrock WIKI’s discount details; Mojang’s update notes are the primary source for the repeated-cure change.
Why do older guides say to cure villagers repeatedly?
That advice describes the pre-fix discount-multiplication behavior. Mojang’s Java snapshot notes list the multiplication bug among the fixes, and the Bedrock 1.20.30 notes separately describe the removal of increasing discounts from repeated reinfection and curing. Check your edition and version if an older guide’s instructions do not match what you see.

- Explore randomly generated worlds and build amazing things from the simplest of homes to the grandest of castles
- Play in creative mode with unlimited resources or mine deep into the world in survival mode, crafting weapons and armor to fend off the dangerous mobs
- Play on the go in handheld or tabletop modes
- Includes Super Mario Mash-Up, Natural Texture Pack, Biome Settlers Skin Pack, Battle & Beasts Skin Pack, Campfire Tales Skin Pack; Compatible with Nintendo Switch only
What to check if your results differ
- Confirm whether you are playing Java or Bedrock and check the game version.
- Check whether the world or server uses mods, plugins, or custom server software that may change villager trading.
- For Bedrock, consider whether a nearby-villager effect or Hero of the Village is affecting prices, rather than assuming another cure stacked the direct discount.
The official notes establish the vanilla fixes at the versions listed above, but do not settle how every older build or modified server behaves.
