If you mainly need to connect a display and a few peripherals, a simpler dock—or Valve’s first-party dock—may be a better fit.
What makes the Mount Ling different?
“This is the Absolute Best Steam Deck Dock Accessory” refers to the Dockcase Chizha Mount Ling Dock, featured by Droid Life in October 2025. Dockcase currently lists the Chizha Mount Ling 1 Dock in its store at a displayed price of $179.99; price and availability can change. Check Dockcase’s current listing before buying.
Its appeal is the combination of connections and add-ons. Dockcase’s campaign and Windows Central’s review describe HDMI, Ethernet, USB ports, optical audio, active cooling, a small display and an M.2 expansion slot. That is a broader feature set than a basic dock intended mainly to connect the Deck to a monitor and peripherals.
Who should consider it?
- Players building a mostly stationary desk setup who want several connections in one dock.
- People who want to attach M.2 storage to the dock rather than rely only on the Deck’s internal storage or separate external drives.
- Buyers who value active cooling and a status display enough to accept a larger, feature-rich accessory.
Who may prefer something simpler?
If you need only video output, charging and a couple of USB ports, the Mount Ling’s extra features may not justify its price or footprint. Smaller docks can be easier to pack, and a simpler model may better suit a setup with no need for Ethernet, optical audio, cooling or dock-connected storage.

Does it work with Steam Deck LCD and OLED?
Valve says both Steam Deck LCD and OLED work with a variety of USB-C docks and hubs. A typical docked setup connects power, a display and peripherals, though Valve notes it does not officially support every display peripheral. See Valve’s Steam Deck docking guidance for compatibility details.
Valve also says its compatibility work extends to third-party hubs and docks, and that owners are welcome to use another dock if they do not prefer the official one. That makes the Mount Ling a plausible option, but check the dock’s current specifications and the compatibility of your particular monitor and peripherals before purchase. The official guidance is broad; it is not a guarantee for every display setup.

What should you check before buying?
Video output and ports
Confirm the exact ports and display limits on the current product listing. The Mount Ling coverage describes HDMI 2.0, Ethernet, USB connections and optical audio. Match the dock’s output to your monitor, and remember that a display’s supported resolution is not the same as a game’s achievable frame rate on Steam Deck.
M.2 storage
The M.2 slot is a key reason to choose this dock over a simpler model. Windows Central’s review describes support for 2280 drives and smaller formats, but do not assume every SSD will fit or work: check Dockcase’s current documentation for drive format and installation guidance before selecting one.

Power delivery
Dockcase’s campaign FAQ recommends starting with the Steam Deck’s original 45W adapter or another single-port USB-C PD adapter rated at 45W or higher. The FAQ says a 100W adapter will not make the Deck charge more efficiently than its own voltage limit allows. It also says the dock can operate without external power for some low-power devices, but notes the Steam Deck USB-C port’s 7.5W power limit. Treat these as Dockcase’s guidance and check its current Mount Ling FAQ for updates.
Dockcase’s FAQ describes USB data speeds of up to 10Gbps and up to 7.5W for USB peripherals, and says the dock is not recommended for charging peripherals. Do not select it as a way to fast-charge a phone or other device through its USB data ports.

- 12-in-1 Full-Function Dock All Ports You Need: Features HDMI 2.0 (4K@60Hz), Gigabit Ethernet, 3 USB 3.0 (5Gbps), 3 USB 2.0, and Type-C PD 3.0 (100W charging + 40Gbps data). One dock handles video output, wired network, peripherals, and fast charging—keeps your desk clutter-free.
- Dual 5cm RGB Cooling Fans No More Thermal Throttling: Two 5cm fans (much larger than common 2cm) deliver higher airflow with lower noise, effectively preventing frame drops on Steam Deck / ROG Ally / Switch 2 due to overheating. Maintains peak performance and extends battery life. Rear on/off switch disables fans & RGB for winter energy saving.
- Wide Compatibility for Handhelds, Laptops & Tablets: Dedicated slot fits devices 27mm thick: Steam Deck (OLED/LCD), Switch 1/2, ROG Ally/Ally X, Legion Go (S/2), MSI Claw, etc. For laptops, iPads, Android devices, simply use the included Type-C cable (no slot needed). Switch video/charging work; USB data limited by Nintendo (same for all docks).
- Included Joystick Caps & Type-C Extender Protect Your Device: 4 silicone joystick caps improve grip, prevent dust and stick wear. Type-C extender acts as a sacrificial port, absorbing wear from repeated plug/unplug to save your console's original port from damage.
- Premium Aviation Aluminum Build Durable & Cool: Screwless seamless design, high-strength aluminum alloy (not plastic) for robust durability and passive heat dissipation. Open fan area ensures superior airflow, solving overheating issues common with sealed official docks.
Cooling, noise and physical fit
The Mount Ling has active cooling. Windows Central’s reviewer found the fan audible under full load but not bothersome; that is one reviewer’s observation, not a measured noise test. Its larger feature set also makes it less pocketable than compact docks. If you use a protective case, verify that the Deck seats properly: the available sources do not establish universal case fit.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does it compare with other Steam Deck docks?
There is no single best dock for every setup. The Mount Ling emphasizes features and expansion; Valve’s dock is the first-party choice; simpler third-party models can cover core docking needs with fewer extras.
