No single current, cross-platform Far Cry 6 update over 100 GB is verified by Ubisoft’s published figures. The apparent size depends on whether you mean a patch download, the installed game, optional HD textures, or additional language files—and those figures vary by platform and update.
What does “over 100 GB” mean for Far Cry 6?
It is important to separate a patch download from the full game’s storage footprint. Ubisoft’s launch notes reported download estimates and final installation estimates separately, and later update notes list patch sizes by platform. Those are different measurements and refer to different releases.
Ubisoft’s launch figures and its Title Update 5 and Title Update 6 notes do not establish one current, cross-platform update above 100 GB. A claim that the update itself exceeds 100 GB should therefore identify the platform, specific update, and whether it means download or installed storage. Combining a patch with the game, every language, and optional textures would not be a like-for-like update-size figure.
How large were the Far Cry 6 updates?
Ubisoft’s October 7, 2021 launch notes give estimates for the full-game download, launch-day patches, and final installation. Its later update announcements list patch downloads. The figures below are not directly interchangeable: the launch figures describe the game’s initial release, while Title Updates 5 and 6 are separate patches from 2022.

Ubisoft described launch download and installation figures as estimates based on its development environment. It also cautioned that actual later patch sizes can vary with language selection and, on PC, whether the HD pack is installed. Title Update 5’s announcement said players on PC and console needed a patch for its new features and fixes; that does not make its patch size the same as the game’s total storage requirement. What the optional PC HD Texture Pack adds—and costs
The HD Texture Pack upgrades common textures, including characters and weapons, according to its Steam listing. It is optional in Ubisoft’s original PC specifications; it is not a standalone explanation for an update exceeding 100 GB.

The listed storage requirement differs across sources and dates. Ubisoft’s September 2021 PC specifications gave the pack as an additional 37 GB for several higher recommended configurations. Ubisoft’s Store listing later showed a 62 GB HD texture pack. Steam’s listing reports 170 GB of available storage for the game listing with the pack. These figures describe different listings and contexts; the sources do not explain the discrepancy, so none should be treated as a universal current pack size. Ubisoft’s original figures are in its PC specifications and the later number appears on the Ubisoft Store listing.
Check VRAM before installing it
Steam warns that the pack requires at least 12 GB of VRAM, with 16 GB for its specified 4K configuration. The listing cautions that less VRAM may cause performance issues and degraded texture quality. Storage space alone does not establish that a PC can run the pack smoothly.

How to interpret the size shown on your platform
- If you are downloading an update: compare the displayed download with the patch size for your platform and update, not with the installed game size.
- If you are checking free disk space: use the platform’s current installation estimate. Ubisoft’s published launch figures are historical estimates, not a guarantee of the space required by a present-day installation.
- If you are on PC: account for selected language files and whether the optional HD Texture Pack is installed. Its size varies across Ubisoft and Steam listings.
- If a reported number is above 100 GB: check whether it includes the base game, additional languages, optional textures, or an installation-space requirement. Ubisoft’s cited patch notes do not support presenting those combined components as one update download.
