The GameSir G7 Pro is a plausible match for the roughly $80 controller in the headline, but the product identity is not confirmed. If this is the controller you mean, its case rests on magnetic sticks and triggers, extra rear buttons, a charging dock, and broad—but platform-dependent—connectivity. Its Xbox mode is wired, and the available sources do not establish independent performance or reliability results.
First, confirm which controller the headline means
The headline does not name a manufacturer or model. GameSir’s G7 Pro is a plausible candidate: a current controller roundup lists its wired Xbox version at $79.99 and describes a feature set that fits the headline. That is not enough to establish that it is the intended product. The price is a listing, not a permanent MSRP; check the exact model and current price before buying. PC Gamer’s current controller roundup is the source for that listing and its summary.

The details below apply to the GameSir G7 Pro, not to an unidentified $80 controller generally. GameSir describes it as a tri-mode controller for Xbox, PC, and mobile. Its product page is the source for the feature specifications here, so those are manufacturer claims rather than independent test results. GameSir G7 Pro product page.
What the G7 Pro offers for the money
Magnetic sticks and switchable triggers
GameSir lists TMR magnetic-resistance sticks and dual-mode Hall Effect/micro-switch triggers. These are alternative input designs and operating modes, but the specifications alone do not show how accurate, durable, or responsive the controls feel in play. The available sources do not provide independent measurements or a reliability record.
#1 Best Overall
- Tri-mode Connectivity: Wired for Xbox, 2.4G & Wired for PC, and Bluetooth for Android. The G7 Pro supports seamless connectivity across Xbox, PC, and Android. Effortlessly switch between modes using the convenient physical mode switch.
- TMR Sticks: The G7 Pro features GameSir's Mag-Res TMR sticks, combining Hall Effect durability with traditional potentiometer performance. This advanced technology delivers stable polling rates for smooth, drift-free gaming with low power consumption.
- Hall Effect Analog Triggers: The GameSir precision-tuned Hall Effect analog triggers provide unmatched smoothness and linear input for precise control. Featuring clicky Micro Switch trigger stops, gamers can easily switch based on their preferences.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
- GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
More controls and customization
The controller has four customizable rear buttons, optical micro-switch ABXY buttons, and a three-part magnetic, swappable faceplate, according to GameSir. Its Nexus software provides customization options. These additions matter most if you will use the rear buttons or adjust the layout; they are less compelling if you want a straightforward pad and will leave the controls at their defaults.
Dock and vibration
GameSir lists a charging dock and four rumble motors. The dock adds convenience if you have a regular place to store and recharge the controller, while the motors add feedback. The listed specifications do not establish how long the controller runs between charges or how strong, comfortable, or useful the vibration feels.

PC-specific gyro and polling specification
GameSir specifies 1000 Hz polling on PC over either a wired or 2.4 GHz wireless connection, plus a built-in gyro with mapping on PC. The polling figure is a manufacturer specification—not a measured latency result—and it should not be read as an Xbox or Android figure. Gyro mapping is likewise a PC feature in the published description.

Check the connection mode for your platform
| Platform | Connection described in the available sources | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox | Wired, according to the current PC Gamer roundup | If you need wireless play on Xbox, this configuration does not meet that requirement. |
| PC | Wired or 2.4 GHz wireless, according to GameSir and the roundup | GameSir specifies 1000 Hz polling for both PC connection modes. |
| Android | Bluetooth, according to the current PC Gamer roundup | The supplied product description calls the controller tri-mode for Xbox, PC, and mobile; confirm support for your particular device and edition before purchase. |
Because connectivity differs by platform, “wireless controller” is not a complete description of the G7 Pro’s Xbox use. Also confirm that the listing is for the wired Xbox version if you are comparing it with the roundup’s $79.99 price.

- Versatile compatibility: supports Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X/S consoles and PC Win10 and above (including the game platform Steam).
- Precise control: features Hall joysticks and Hall triggers for a comfortable feeling, long service life and improved game accuracy.
- Plug and Play Convenience: Wired USB connection (removable) for easy setup and instant play without the need for additional drivers.
- Customizable experience: Includes 2 custom backbuttons that allow users to eliminate false triggers and improve their gaming experience.
- Impressive gameplay: Provides a pulsating vibration trigger and an asymmetric vibration grip motor for intense tactile feedback.
What could make it a poor fit
- You want wireless Xbox play: the roundup says Xbox use requires a cable.
- The D-pad is central to your games: PC Gamer identifies it as a weakness, though the available summary does not explain the issue in detail.
- You expect proof of better performance: the published feature list does not establish measured latency, superior accuracy, or long-term durability.
- You will not use the extras: rear buttons, PC gyro mapping, customization, and a dock add little value if your play habits do not call for them.
So, does it justify about $80?
The G7 Pro’s value proposition is the combination of controls, customization, dock, and multiple connection options—not a demonstrated performance advantage. At the roundup’s listed $79.99, it may make sense for someone who wants those extras and is comfortable with wired Xbox play. It is harder to justify if wireless Xbox connectivity or a well-regarded D-pad is a priority, or if a basic controller already covers your needs. The available evidence does not establish how it compares in measured performance or reliability with cheaper or pricier alternatives, so treat the feature list as a reason to investigate, not proof that the controller is worth the price for everyone.
