How fast is the RTX 5070 at 1440p?
In TechSpot’s 2025 testing across 16 games at 1440p, the RTX 5070 averaged 1% faster than the RTX 4070 Super. That is a result for TechSpot’s particular game suite, not a promise about every title or an industry-wide average. It points to very similar conventional raster performance in that comparison, rather than a substantial generational leap.
NVIDIA’s March 5, 2025 launch article claimed up to a 20% boost in traditional raster performance over its previous-generation comparison. That is NVIDIA’s launch claim, not a substitute for independent testing; the comparison and conditions should not be conflated with TechSpot’s 16-game result.
What does DLSS 4 add?
NVIDIA lists DLSS 4 support, including Multi Frame Generation. This is a feature-based reason to consider the 5070, separate from its conventional raster performance. Its practical value depends on whether the games you play support it and whether you like using generated frames. It should not be treated as proof that the card renders a given game natively at a particular frame rate.

NVIDIA’s product page lists a $549 starting price. That is the official listed starting price, not confirmation of stock or what a retailer charges in your country. Check the price of the exact card available to you, including comparable RTX 4070 Super models. Given TechSpot’s near-tie in conventional 1440p performance, a large price premium for the 5070 is difficult to justify on raster performance alone; DLSS 4 may matter enough to change that calculation for some buyers.

Memory for demanding games
The RTX 5070 has 12 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 192-bit interface, according to NVIDIA’s current specifications accessed October 3, 2026. That capacity is worth considering if you play demanding games or plan to keep the card for years. The available evidence does not establish a universal point at which 12 GB becomes insufficient, so judge it against the games and settings you actually use rather than assuming it will—or will not—be a problem.
