The original Litematica project is a separate project, historically built for LiteLoader and later ported to Fabric. Its repository notes that Forge 1.12.2 versions existed, while later Forge ports depended on technical prerequisites. That history does not make every unofficial port an official Litematica release.

How to choose the right file
- Check the Minecraft version and loader used by your game profile. Forge and NeoForge are distinct; do not install a NeoForge file in a Forge profile.
- Open the Forgematica file list and select a release labeled for both your exact Minecraft version and Forge. A project page may show a different loader’s file prominently.
- Install the dependency specified for that port and release. Forgematica names MaFgLib; follow the selected file’s instructions rather than substituting a different library.
- If your profile is Forge 1.16.5 or 1.17.1, you can also check ZacSharp’s fork. Follow that repository’s build-artifact instructions and its link to the matching MaLiLib Forge project.
- Before troubleshooting, review the port’s compatibility notes for your Minecraft version and other installed mods.
What to expect from Forgematica
Forgematica describes schematic display and creative-mode functions including pasting, cloning areas, moving, filling, and deleting. Its capabilities and compatibility depend on the particular release; they should not be assumed to match every version of the original Litematica.
Version-specific compatibility notes
- The project reports that schematic rendering does not currently work properly with shaders on Minecraft 1.21.3 and later.
- It lists particular interactions with Valkyrien Skies on Minecraft 1.20.1 and PrettyPipes on Minecraft 1.18.2. Consult the project’s current notes for the details relevant to your setup.
Why version and loader labels matter
“Litematica for Forge” can mean an unofficial port rather than the original project. Available releases change over time, and a matching Minecraft version alone is not enough: the loader must match too. Forgematica’s CurseForge listing showed both Forge and NeoForge categories when checked on October 8, 2026, but its visible main file was a NeoForge release. The page also reported approximately 1.9 million downloads at that time; that platform count is not an independent measure of compatibility or quality.
