Sometimes—but only if another copy exists. Check PlayStation App captures first if automatic uploads were enabled, then look for a USB or other saved copy. A PS5 backup created before deletion may also contain the clip, but restoring it erases data currently on the console. PlayStation’s support guidance does not document a Recently Deleted folder or a general undelete feature for clips.
Check PlayStation App captures first
If capture uploads were enabled when you created the clip, open PlayStation App > Library > Captures. PlayStation says eligible captures are available in the app for 14 days after creation, so download a needed clip to your mobile device while it is still available. This is an availability window, not a guarantee that every capture uploaded. PlayStation’s capture-upload guidance says uploads are not retroactive: clips made before you enabled the feature will not appear there.
Not every video qualifies. PlayStation’s current support guidance, accessed October 8, 2026, says supported gameplay videos must be under three minutes and not 4K. If the clip is missing, check whether uploads were enabled when it was created and whether it meets those limits.
Look for a copy on USB or another device
If you previously exported or shared the clip, check the USB drive, computer, phone, or other destination where you may have saved it. On PS5, the documented export path in Media Gallery is More > Copy to USB Drive. PlayStation documents copying captures from the console to USB, not restoring an exported clip from USB back into the console. See PlayStation’s capture and USB instructions.

Could a PS5 backup restore the clip?
Possibly, if you made a full-console USB backup before deleting the clip and included screenshots and video clips in that backup. PlayStation lists games and apps, saved data, screenshots and video clips, and settings among the data a console backup can include. Its USB backup instructions specify a FAT32- or exFAT-formatted drive and caution that not all USB devices work. A drive formatted as PS5 extended storage cannot be used for console backup data. Review PlayStation’s backup and restore instructions before proceeding.
Important: Restoring a backup is a console-wide restore. It erases data currently saved on the PS5, so preserve any important current data before considering this option. Follow PlayStation’s restore instructions carefully; this is not a way to retrieve one clip without affecting the rest of the console.

PS Plus cloud storage does not store video clips
PlayStation Plus cloud storage is for saved game data, not PS5 screenshots or video clips. PlayStation lists USB copying and PlayStation App sharing as the relevant capture paths in its storage guidance. A cloud backup of a game save therefore will not bring a deleted video back.
Is there a Recently Deleted folder?
PlayStation’s Media Gallery documentation describes viewing and managing screenshots and video clips, but the official support material reviewed does not document a capture recycle bin or an in-console undelete process. The PS5’s recently created card can show up to 15 recent captures; it is a shortcut to recent items, not a folder of deleted clips. PlayStation’s Media Gallery guide explains the feature.

What if there is no other copy?
If the clip is not in the app, was never copied elsewhere, and is not in a pre-deletion console backup, PlayStation’s documented features offer no direct recovery route. Recovery through supported PlayStation options is therefore unlikely. The official guidance does not evaluate forensic recovery, so it cannot establish whether specialized services or tools could retrieve a particular deleted file; do not assume they can.

- Enable capture uploads before recording clips you want available in PlayStation App, and download important uploads within the 14-day window.
- Copy important captures from Media Gallery to a USB drive or another device. Confirm the copy is readable before deleting the console original.
- Consider making a full-console USB backup if you want a broader fallback, and keep in mind that restoring it replaces current console data.
A standard USB drive can help keep future copies or hold a console backup if it meets PlayStation’s formatting requirements. Buying one now cannot recover a clip that was never copied or backed up.
