Is This Seat Taken? is a single-player logic puzzle game about arranging characters in seats that suit their preferences and keep them away from things they dislike. It is a video game, not a real-world seating planner: each level turns a setting such as a cinema, bus, wedding reception, or taxi into a new seating puzzle.
What kind of game is Is This Seat Taken??
Developed by Poti Poti Studio and published by Wholesome Games Presents, the game released on Steam on August 7, 2025. Its puzzles revolve around characters’ preferences and pet peeves. A passenger who dislikes strong cologne, for example, should not sit beside someone wearing it; loud music may be a problem for a sleepy passenger. The challenge is to find placements that satisfy the group’s constraints.
The mood is cozy and low-pressure: the Steam listing describes no timers or leaderboards, so the focus stays on working through each arrangement rather than racing a clock. New locations bring different situations and puzzle setups.
How do the seating puzzles work?
Each scenario gives you a group of characters and clues about what they like or want to avoid. You place them in available seats, using those clues to work out which neighbors and positions will work. The underlying logic stays focused on placement, while the setting changes the context—from public transport to social events.

A light story links the locations. Nat, an aspiring actor, travels from city to city after spotting a shape on a movie screen that resembles one he has seen before. GamesRadar+ praised the clear presentation and responsive placement, and described the story as a heartwarming thread through the levels. The same reviewer found some puzzle types, especially trains, repetitive and wanted more variety before the credits; that is one critic’s assessment, not a universal verdict. GamesRadar+ review
Can you play Is This Seat Taken? on Switch or Steam Deck?
The developer’s launch announcement says the game is available on Windows, Linux, and Mac, and is Steam Deck Verified. Poti Poti Studio announced a physical edition in partnership with Lost In Cult and said preorders had opened. The announcement describes a standard version with a disc or cartridge depending on platform, as well as an EDITIONS version with a variant cover and slipcase, an essay and developer-interview booklet, four art cards, a director’s authenticity card, a poster, and a Nat sticker. The announcement establishes that these products were planned and offered for preorder at that time; it does not confirm current stock, regional availability, or an Amazon listing.
