Can you choose a romance in Dying Light?
No. The original Dying Light is not a romance-choice game: it does not provide selectable partners or a relationship-progression system. In a Steam Community discussion asking whether the game has romance options or one linear narrative, players describe the story as linear and note that there is no way to raise character relationships. Those replies are community opinions, not an official feature list, so they support the practical distinction rather than serve as definitive documentation. Read the Steam discussion.
That means the answer depends on what you mean by “romance”: interactive romance mechanics are absent, while character interactions may still invite a romantic reading.
Are Kyle Crane and Jade Aldemir a couple?
Crane and Jade are the characters most often raised in discussions of possible romantic subtext. The available evidence does not establish their relationship as a confirmed romance: players disagree about whether Jade is a love interest or a friend. It is safest to describe this as an interpretation of their character dynamic, not a canonically confirmed relationship.

Does The Following add romance?
No romance system is described for The Following. Techland calls it a story-based expansion requiring the base game and highlights its countryside area, additional mechanics and challenges, and customizable, upgradable buggies. Its official description does not present it as a romance expansion or confirm romance routes. See Techland’s expansion description.

Keep the sequel separate from the 2015 original. In a developer Q&A about Dying Light 2, Techland lead game designer Tymon Smektała said, “we don’t have a romance option like in BioWare’s games, for example, because this was never our goal.” That quote concerns the sequel; it does not independently document the romance mechanics or story of the first Dying Light.
